They will likely nerf it by or during 8.0 if you want it to be less work.

I think you should be more Proud about the small things in life. That's you not me. I don't want to deal with bullshit. So far this relic has been bullshit. The next step will be bullshit. I want a clear objective that isn't RNG that I can work at. There is no pride. I couldn't care less about pride in a video game. It's a video game.
The fact that after this RNG bullshit, it becomes like the Endwalker one. Almost like it's a better idea.
I'm not saying you should feel equally proud as a firefighter saving a person from a burning Building.
But you can definitely feel proud about your achievements no matter how small they are, even if it's just something you did in a game.
Maybe this content isn't for you then, and that's fine! I feel it's important to note that the EW relics were the exception, not the rule. Every other relic has been a grind, even to this day.
To be fair I've tried to grind it. I just don't find it remotely fun. I'd rather it be an objective like do 300 FATEs and you get your relic. I absolutely hate FATEs, but knowing I have x amount left would be better than leaving it up to RNG. You can get all up in a tussle about that if you want, but the Endwalker relic was better than this one objectively. I don't know if I will ever get this done or if I care to or not. I went back because of the patch notes. I figured I hadn't done it in a fair bit maybe I can chip away more at it and I immediately wanted off the ride. It's failed content to me. It's some nebulous grind that could be over today or in two years and at this rate never. I don't care about being BiS it's just something to do something which this game severely lacks in my opinion. There is a clear objective, get the demiatma, most of the other relics had an RNG step in some form or fashion and it sounds like you just have bad luck with this one. EW relics were horrible and I never want them to do relics that way again. Relics are something you can grind on overtime (I am glad we didn't have to get demiatma for every relic, that would've been too much). I think its a perfect medium to have a one time grind followed by either less of a grind or tomes, we have 21 jobs now after all. I had bad luck with some of the demiatma but I just hard focused the ones I needed and got through it instead of endlessly complaining on the forums about it.
This is an opinion and an opinion cannot be objective. Endwalker relics are not "factually" better on an unbiased level. They were objectively easier. There's a difference.
I've done Heavensward and the ARR ones. And both had bad steps, but neither of them was this convoluted. The ARR one and subsequently the Heavensward ones were pretty straightforward. And even under the bullshit rng they had they never felt this bad to do. Maybe it was because the game was friendlier and more lively when Discord wasn't around, but OC sucks. Nobody is friendly it's a silent grind and out in the open world it's even more dead with even less socialization. Maybe that's the issue I don't know, but I do know this isn't fun. And nobody I ask besides people on the internet likes it. They all hate it, but like that it's only one step. So who knows? I don't know if the next step is more bullshit I am for sure done with it. You'll never see me complain about it again because I'll put it away completely and ignore this crap.
We'll you said it best "it's just something to do" which is what all relics are, relics are busy work that gets you a shiny reward at the end that also happens to be BiS. Also, none of the relic grinds are objectively better than another, they all suck in their own unique way.To be fair I've tried to grind it. I just don't find it remotely fun. No, I'm shit stirring I didn't like the 4 repeat quests, but I liked the freedom. I think a better idea is to keep the freedom in parts that might be long-term, but with clear endpoints. Again I absolutely hate FATEs, but if it were a bar I was filling and I needed like 300 FATEs I would hate it still sure, but I have something to work towards. RNG is not a grind. It's a slot machine.
Anyway, that's all I'm gonna say. I'm done talking about this garbage system.
Looks like some people had really bad luck with this.
I got all the stones with both of my characters and didn't find it too bad. Especially since you don't have to do it for every relic.
Sure, I spent a few evenings and a weekend on it (about a week per character, I'd say),
but I also needed the silver coins for all the other rewards and some gear.
And once I had most of the stones, I started skipping the fates and critical encounters that couldn't drop the required stones to avoid burning out.
Meaning, I watched Netflix while waiting for the fates /CE's I needed. ^^
That said, no randomness in a grind feels certainly better once bad luck strikes,
but I would also argue that most players still prefer the chance to get something sooner rather than having to do something 100 times with certainty.
But that, of course, depends on the odds and the numbers. For me, for example, it was definitely more painful to do all the fates in all regions.
And aside from the Endwalker relics, all relics had some RNG-based fate farming steps.
However, I still think they should introduce a pity system in the near future,
simply to help players who couldn't complete the content when it was full of players.
Like for example, the ability to trade five stones for one stone of your choice.
Don't like the relics? Maybe the content isn't for you then!
Don't like forked tower? Maybe the content isn't for you then!
Don't like Cosmic? maybe the content isn't for you then!
...
Maybe the game isn't for you then? Just leave if you don't like it!
Yeah I don't know why leave any feedback?
