    7.3 Unreal Vent

So I usually don't like making negative kinds of posts, but I just want to know if anyone feels the same.

I came back to the game to try out 7.3, and of course I wanted to try Unreal. I watched a guide and figured, "Okay, this can't be as difficult as Suzaku." And for the most part, it wasn't. Of course we wiped a lot, but then we started to get the mechanics down and stopped dying.

But there's just one mechanic I can't stand—and I refuse to go back into it because of this: that BS enrage near the end, the 0.2% health-left wipe.

Last patch cycle, I accepted it even though I didn't like it. I trudged through that mess on Suzaku every week just to get some virtual leaves to give to a dog with a big head. Well, I refuse to spend the next few months repeating this same enrage nonsense. And now I’m guessing the boss after this one will also have that absurd mechanic too.

So Square, you can keep your fake leaves. I’m sick of this trash. If I die 30 times to mechanics before that, okay—my fault. But enrage? Enrage is just such garbage.

And yeah, I know: “Skill issue” / “Mad 'cause bad.” I just don’t care anymore. I’m calling it how I see it.

Edit - I've sort of changed my mind a bit, while i still don't like the enrage mechanic I think I'm just gonna continue to push through...

Enrages have existed in extreme/unreal trials for years, hello? If you reach enrage, its not because their health is low, its because your DPS was too low.

I mean it is indeed a skill issue situation there is nothing else to it..if you cant get over an extreme enrage either you or your party are performing very poorly or there are some unnecesary deaths, there is nothing more to say.

This one's already better than Suzaku. Maybe not by much, but we got both clears in three tries. Only saw the start of enrage both times with deaths included.

Byakko was so braindead even a party with multiple deaths and completely desynchronized bursts could clear it. I'm glad the bar has risen to "try not to die" and "try to do your group buff when the group is actually bursting". I feel like it's bare minimum at lvl100... although it's unfortunate the market has not recovered since late EW. Gone are the days we used to sell mounts for nearly 20M in my server.

I wish everyone the best of luck finding fox tiles this unreal!

Really. REALLY check how you play and your rotation.

Im wracking my brain to find the exception... but... doesnt every extreme have an enrage? Sure, some fights are easy to the point that hitting enrage is harder then clearing, but its still THERE. And being based on extremes, every unreal would have an enrage as well. Enrage exists to prevent fights from just becoming drawn-out war of attrition slogs. I remember a week 1 Ridoranna where the Math Boss took more then 25 mins to kill. There were 3 or 4 people who played essentially perfectly, and 20ish who were on the ground for more then 15 mins each. They would throw out a couple raises where they could, but whoever they got up would inevitably die(either to lack of healing on raidwides, or to the next spin-cycle attack). It was amazing, it was painful, it was painfully amazing and amazingly painful.

Most fight from EX onward have a soft or hard enrage. Unreal is made so that you have a fixed ilvl, so enrage is not a negligeable factor, but you shouldn't reach it that often. It's probably an issue with your group's overall DPS and/or people dying too much during the fight. But that's PF for you, the only thing you can focus on is your own performance.

Don’t a lot of ‘normal’ difficulty fights technically have enrages too? It’s just that the bar to pass it is generally so low you’ll never be in the danger zone anyway? It’s not like they’re a new thing.

Even as someone who hasn’t done savage since like, Deltascape floor 1&2 (longboi dragon and eyeball) it was always a given that a fight would probably have some form of ‘enrage’.

Not to say that it always being there makes it ‘correct’ or ‘ideal’ design. But aren’t enrages also overcome mostly passively by improving gear anyway? I always figured they used them because you can either surpass early them with ‘skill’, or by ‘preparation’ by getting the absolute best gear and melds and whatever beforehand. The latter takes longer but means even those who struggle can still have a chance

There are a few in the alliance raids(first boss in dun scaith comes to mind - fight goes too long and all 8 squares are dangerous to the death cast). In normal trials bismark will eventually break the island, and ravanna will eventually smash all the walls(anti-knockback would still save you, and... if you line up directly with a pillar does that work? do the pillars stand and block? not sure). There are also a couple more who add damage+ at the end of their cycle, so if you let them drag forever they become unhealable. But normal-difficulty enrages are pretty rare overall.
