Yeah, the JP playerbase collectively boycotting it was spearheaded by NA casuals on alts via MTL.OC was boring, and we're only getting 2 all of DT lol
FT, while it did have issues (instance prog before the hotix) wasn't as bad as some NA casuals make it out to be. Getting into the FT was the most annoying part. FT itself is fine (i'd argue too easy, dps checks are basically non existent).

You said there won't be any ultimate content in 7.3, but are there plans for ultimate content in the 7.x series?
Yoshida: This time, the Pilgrim Traverse secret boss, where you offer 40 offerings, is pretty close to an ultimate, but it still requires four players... Of course, we're planning on implementing one more in the 7.x series, and we're currently in the middle of working on it. As I've said many times before, developing an ultimate is incredibly difficult.
In the most recent LL, he made no mention of 7.x in the context ot a 2nd ultimate, so this is somewhat reassuring (could be me coping also)
They are trying at least, but there is a lot promised in the next two patches. I would just like them to confirm it before 7.4Yoshi - P from recent famitsu article

I'm so jaded, when I read him say we're planning on implementing one more in the 7.x series, I immediately thought "you're just saying that so people who'd otherwise quit before .4, stick around." He knows full well if he explicitly stated the next ult wouldn't be until 8.x, a lot of people would unsub a lot earlier.
I'll take the crumbs though.. for now.
I feel like so many problems could be solved by CBU3 just being the FFXI/FFXIV studio again, rather than Yoshi-P constantly trying to stick his hand in multiple pies.I'm so jaded, when I read him say we're planning on implementing one more in the 7.x series, I immediately thought "you're just saying that so people who'd otherwise quit before .4, stick around." Like, if Yoshida-san wants to get involved with other games so bad, I wish he'd just step down as FFXIV director, pass it off to someone who will actually give the game 100%, and just act as "producer" or take some honorary title for the credits.
This. He has become a P.R mouthpiece. I just dont see that his heart is in it. He should just go do other games or be an actual P.R head so he can go do merch collabs with all the companies he wants. An MMO deserves a fully focused leader, not a guy who wants / has to do other projects.I feel like so many problems could be solved by CBU3 just being the FFXI/FFXIV studio again, rather than Yoshi-P constantly trying to stick his hand in multiple pies.
