While some of the points you mention would be nice to have in FF14, it mainly signals that you are extremely burned out of FF14, which is okay. It's nice to go and play other games. Many games have features that I would like to see in FF14, but I also know they might not be easily implemented or fit well with the game.

It's natural that after playing for so long, you see all of the imperfections and many things that can be improved. I am sure that you will see the same things after you have played WoW for long enough. Each game has its shortcomings, and none is perfect.

It would be nice, however, for SE to look around and improve/adopt/innovate in the game.

While I do not agree with many of the complaints made in the forums, ultimately, they do push SE to stop their current slop and feel pressured again to step up their game.

Really tired of hearing the “you’re just burned out” take. Sometimes the game has just become stale—it doesn’t mean I’m burned out. It means I’ve noticed the systems aren’t evolving, and the fun is getting buried under dated design choices.

let's try something okay? I see you have joined in 2013 and while it doesn't mean you have been playing non stop for 12 years.. how about this. Play WoW for 5 and then come back and tell me all about those flaws and how the game is dying and how much better X game is.

    Deal?

I played FFXI for 14 years—the only reason I quit was because the game stopped being fun. If XIV added something genuinely new, interesting, unique, or actually fixed core issues, I’d choose it over WoW in a heartbeat. How does that equal burnout? That’s not fatigue—it’s disappointment. In WoW, every corner I turn there’s something new—something different to do. It constantly feels like there’s variety, like the world is alive and waiting, instead of just sending me down the same hallway in a slightly different skin.

So if I take a break for five years and come back—XIV is going to be completely different? Doubt it. It'll have more story, maybe a new job or two, but the core systems, the UI, the way the world functions? Probably still the same. That’s not growth—it’s just more of the same.

And just to be clear—yes, aside from a single six-month break due to personal reasons at the end of A Realm Reborn, I’ve been subbed continuously. I’ve stuck with XIV through it all, so this isn’t coming from someone who dipped in and out. I’ve given it the time—it just hasn’t evolved with it.

The duality of "play other games" and "stop having fun playing other games" in this community is amazing.

Played WoW since Vanilla and XIV since 1.0 Beta.

The things he noted as being handled better on WoW are still handled better on WoW and would improve XIV is better handled here. It doesn't take burnout to find more sensible choices regarding UI, QoL, progression, fleshing out an open world, etc., more appealing than less sensible ones.

    Okay
I've played wow for 20 years
    I've played ff14 for 7
FF14 has gotten old faster than wow because wow has evolved and changed its systems constantly
Sorry man. square needs to do something innovative or risk this games stagnate slow death

I enjoy both but i definitely play wow more these days since they fixed their issues after shadowlands, the game is doing amazing and i wish square enix would try harder.

Being burnt out means you're overwhelmed with stuff to do.

You can't be burnt out of something if that something gives you nothing to do.

People are bored, not burnt out.

I dunno I got burnt out of WoW after playing for many years although for me it was a moment of "Why the hell am I logging in?" Sure there are dungeons to run ect but at the end of the day it became a job. Doing the dungeons pushing keys getting score. All for what? Some 15 year old to quote that my class isn't "meta" right now so get refused from a dungeon I've run 100 times before?

Wouldn't say I was overwhelmed with stuff to do.
