MMORPGs have always been like that. You have to create your own content between the patches, such as RP, PvP, crafting/gathering, helping newer players clear raids, grinds, completing all the achievements/side content..

You are agreeing with me more than I think you think. I live for this side content, seriously. I do enjoy consuming the story but its maybe 2%-3% of my playtime. As far as "creating your own content" I dont agree with the term. For RP, sure, but the other things you mentioned are developer created content. I really have very little to say about everything else you said, its pretty on-point. You're remarks on EW are spot on. "We reworked this dungeon, there are no rewards or achievements attached and you can enjoy using you level 25 rotation" is fairly unexciting. I got all of my tomestone relics in like 3 days for each step doing The Hunt.

While pretty much all MMOs expect you to do side content (or RP) between patches, they TRY to provide enough replayable content to keep people entertained or have weekly updates like osrs so that there is always something new.

Nobody actually knows. Supposedly there is a massive job rework coming, but everything is unconfirmed.

I dunno if they actually mention a full on rework... its was more like "improve job identity." In all likelihood they're adding a new system to jobs since they dont really wont to go beyond lv100, trees, skill augmentation, who knows, but I dont have high hope for any significant changes to current game play...

My doomer prediction is that whatever horizontal progression/alternate advancement system they add will just be 110 in everything but name, maybe something similar to WoW's hero talents at the absolute best.

Patch 7.4 release date: December 2025

Patch 7.5 release date: April 2026

New Expansion 8.0 release date: Fall 2026

I think more likely we will get 7.4 in January 2026 and 7.5 somewhere around late May early June 2026.

• August 12th 2025 = 7.3
• 27th February - 2nd March 2026 = NA Fanfest
• Late May/Early June 2026 = EU Fanfest
• Late July/Early August 2026 = JP Fanfest

After the JP Fanfest, it took 6 additional months to release Dawntrail. That could actually put it at February 2027 unless they make a big effort to release it at their former schedule pre-Endwalker, which would make it release in November.

This is optimistic. Although SE has said 4 month patch cycles, we have NEVER had 4 month patches. They have be 4 1/2ish months. So 7.3 will be august, 7.4 late december, 7.5 probably mid-may, and 8.0 will likely come after 7-8 months

Yoshida talked some about DT being their return to expansions always releasing in summer, but 8.0 releasing in summer 2027 sounds like financial suicide.
