Surely they will fix stuff in 8.0 and make jobs better and feel more unique. Big copium inhale. Let's not forget that this is their usual thing to make everyone hype for it and then see that jobs get watered down, removed abilities and typical thing of: "add 1 spell at max level".
When 8.0 comes, we will gather here and then type: ''9.0 when?".
If I had a nickel every time SE promised something in the next expansion (that they never follow through on) i'd have a down payment for a small country.Surely they will fix stuff in 8.0 and make jobs better and feel more unique. Considering people were always complaining about content drought, majority of players don't stay online just for the story. Maybe there are some who do that (though I'm not sure what's to do after you finish the msq and there's nothing else), but generally people ask for other contents. Hence why they give us alliance raid, EX trials, Savage, relic etc between msq patches.
Even during ShB, which is considered the peak writing of ff14, this didn't change. I remember people were desperate because there's nothing to do when covid caused delay of 5.3 ( or 5.2, I don't really remember)

8.0 releasing in 2027 would absolutely doom this game.
May be the estimate prediction... but I have to agree here.
Unless the rest of the planned side content (Deep Dungeon, V&C, BST, Cosmic zones and especially the North Horn) absolutely deliver. But then, what are the chances? They don't seem to adjust their ongoing production based on feedback, so whatever is being discussed today in 7.2 may only be taken in consideration for 7.4 or 7.5.

Honestly at this point they should just cut their losses, cut 7.4 and 7.5. Release north horn in like November then aim for 8.0 as soon as possible (like March). 7.2 was their last chance to “save” DT. At this point the playerbase is going to be stewing in anger till 8.0 no matter what they do so they may as well get it over with as quickly as possible

Ah, the Warlords of Draenor approach. Blizzard decided that the expansion was unsalvageable at some point between 6.0's development and 6.1, so they scrapped what was planned and just went with as fast a segue into the next expansion as possible.Honestly at this point they should just cut their losses, cut 7.4 and 7.5. Unfortunately, I don't think SE has that kind of flexibility or "resources." Pulling 7.4 and 7.5 would just mean there was a massive gap with no content, rather than a stretch where there was more bad content.

Yeah I think at best we could maybe get 8.0 a month or two earlier. In exchange for 9 months of extra content drought. I took the first half of this year off from FFXIV, and I'm a Guild Wars 2 player so I wouldn't mind the gap, but I think it infuriate the community too much to be worth it.
