But want to get more jobs in the fight? Pretty much what I said earlier, you need not only make Garuda more melee friendly, you also need to make jobs themselves friendly to the fight.

Know why Chimera is BLM only? AoE that not only hurts like hell, but also poisons you, along with sandpits and ants. Why would we want to bring melee in there?

Know why Moogle was ARC only? Because your new "combo" system only really worked well for ARC and THM on that fight. Constant moving moogles only made it hard for others to perform their combos and made them only an inconvenience.

I said it earlier, but a really good way to make melee more viable is rework the combo system a tad bit. Have it so you get the next string of the combo regardless where your position is, but you get more potency from the weapon skill if done in the position said in the ability. Like you use Pummel, while it requires hitting in the front to make Concussive Blow happen, if you hit anywhere besides the front, it would get a damage decrease, but you could still perform your combo.

This would make it so melee are viable in fights. Maybe a flaw or two someone could point out, but the combo system is one of many reasons melees are looked down upon compared to BLM's.
I like your combo idea. Some people might think of it as making fights more faceroll, but melee need a way to overcome the battle with the server in its current state.

What they could do is just make combos continue to chain regardless of where you hit so you can chain together the weapon skills, but if you do it from the correct direction then you get the bonus that's currently associated with them.

Frankly... Why would ANY content come out in which the testers have not thrown all BLMs at it to see what happens... I mean it has only been done with EVERY OTHER CONTENT in the game....
I can see if it was some new technique... but it's the same damn story...
BLM burn is not new.... if a BLM burn catches the devs by surprise... then I guess all I can do is SMH
Well this is why most MMO's have test servers so that testers find these little exploits prior to release.

But thats coming in 2.0 along with everything else :P

I do agree though the blm burn should have been the first thing on their minds. closely follow with arc zerg.

The problem is that there is supposed to be a mechanic in place to prevent this. Why they didn't test it though is beyond me. Ifrit has a mechanic where his 2 hour activates automatically if his hp goes below a certain point. I had the misfortune of running into this when I was doing the 30s ifrit and my howling fist combo left him with about 3% hp. He popped his spikes then immediately jumped and killed me with 9999 damage.

The problem is... the testers never catch... well... anything...

Give the fight to BG or Daeva or Legacy for a week.... Or even one of the hardcore JP linkshells... Give them incentives for finding the exploits or cheesy ways to win...

Its sad that manaburn parties may be eradicated, I hope instead there would be place to adjust the content so other jobs/classes/combinations can perform well too. An immersive enjoyable world is through having the option to form unusual parties and having a bit of fun along the way.

Awww man... that picture in that wiki brings back memories. I miss Corvus and Heavyswordsman GG Midgardsormr!

Zahak, you just dropped some knowledge on us....

Also.. I didn't want to bring this up....
But in a fight in game between an Ogre and a Morbol... I'd put my money on the Ogre

    I'm just sayin....

Yep, BLM's only miss a combo if their spell isn't accurate enough. We miss a combo if we don't position correctly or miss in our WS. Doesn't sound too fair on the melee's end.
