    I wonder this....

At some point when the level cap is 99, BLMs will be able to go to Ifrit or Garuda and one shot them with one big Burstaga or something like that, therefore, skipping hellfire or Aerial blast completely...

Would that, also, be an exploit?

in what universe is that a serious question? this content is designed for level 50s, with level 50 stats and abilities in mind. period.

your logic is so hard to follow my brain just completely shut off.

Were you surprised to find that it was already in the off position? (you know I love ya fusional)

My point is.. burning at the right time or "too hard" can never be an exploit...
Anyone who says "Skipping phases" is an exploit is being silly

You're right... it is "designed" for level 50s... your point is that it doesn't matter at that point, hence it wouldn't be an exploit for a level 99 group to one shot it

well right now it is "designed" so that Aerial Blast is not triggered by HP. It was an unexpected design flaw, to say the least
But the point is.... it's no different

And technically it is is "designed" for a party 45+, which includes level 99, once there is one

BLM is not an exploit... it takes the fun out of the fight, yes, but not really an exploit

Rydin...im sorry but you are starting to be ridiculous. I'm starting to think you have no idea what an "exploit" even is, nor what it even means. Its either that, or you are in such denial that you are ceasing to make sense and comprehend facts. First of all, abusing an unintended design flaw is the definition of an exploit. This means that a BLM burn strategy is an exploit, because it abuses a mechanic that is not supposed to be there. There's just no getting around it, and no rationalization. Yoshi came out and said that it is a bug, and the hp check is not working like it should. Strategically taking advantage of this is what we would call "exploiting". If there was a bug that allowed you to run through walls to the end of the dungeon, and players took advantage of this, wouldnt it be an exploit? You wouldn't disagree, it is most definitely an exploit. BLM burn is no different. There's a bug that allows you to skip aerial blast, BLM tries to take advantage of that. Exploit is an exploit is an exploit.

Sorry for the dose of reality but it is what it is, confirmed by the lead designer himself. How are you even still trying to convince yourself its not an exploit at all?

A lvl 99 pwning a lvl 50 is a mechanic that is *supposed* to be there, so them one-shotting the bosses is not an exploit..obviously. Thats just a stupid example lol.

Yes, but by "abusing" you mean doing exactly what BLMs were designed to do... nuking
I understand what you guys are saying... I just have to play the devil's advocate here

If a stop sign is poorly made, and it falls under it's own weight and cars no longer stop at that particular intersection....
That stop sign (And in turn, that intersection) are no longer working as intended...
Whether you KNOW the stop sign was supposed to be there or not, you are not legally bound to stop at the corner, and therefore cannot be penalized for failing to stop

There is no argument. Abusing a mechanic is still abusing a mechanic, regardless of whether you are using valid mechanics to do it or not. If I got 1mil gil every time I sold a copper ore to an npc, farming copper and selling it repeatedly is exploiting a broken mechanic. Yes I'm still just "npcing copper like I'm allowed to do," but now I"m doing it for the express purpose of abusing a bug. Running into a wall is no sin, but if you're doing it to skip through an entire dungeon its an exploit. An exploit is an exploit, I appreciate your attempt but there is no wiggle room for this one.

But that works different from a game. Once you learn something is an exploit, you are legally bound by the terms of service and conditions (which you signed) to cease and desist. Failure to do so is a bannable offense. Yoshi *does* have the right to ban anyone continuing to use this exploit you know, as they are clearly violating the contract which they signed in order to play the game. He doesn't ban them out of his good graces, don't get it confused. There is absolutely no wiggle room here at all. Yoshi clarified that his is an unintended mechanic, and ppl who are intentionally trying to abuse that mechanic are exploiting the game. Its no different than the tons of other examples I gave. I just find it amazing how anyone would even bother to rationalize it at all, as there's nothing to rationalize. Game exploits are easily defined, easily recognized, and easily avoided. There's really nothing to defend.

Er- Reality of the fact, Rydin, is that the THM burn strategy simply made them aware of an AI error wherein it failed to recognize the dropping HP if it was dropped too fast.
The trigger to activate her Super Move even if she was dropped to 1% in one hit was probably already in place, however, it failed to activate due to a program error related to the speed of damage dealt. They are fixing that AI flaw and that particular move is now not possible to be skipped, if you can still burn her past other phases, that is definitively a viable strategy. The 'exploit' here would not be the heavy burn but the AI bug which caused her to ignore the 'drop everything, execute supermove' trigger, which will be fixed.

They're not moving to fight back this burn strategy, they're not moving to 'nerf' thaumaturges they're not doing anything OTHER than fix a simple issue.

I know, It needs to be fixed.. but I don't condemn the people doing it.
My point is when youc all it an exploit, you are calling the people who take advantage of it "Exploiters"
and that carries a very negative connotation.
I definitely prefer the regular way to beat it, but I would never chastise someone for SE's mistake
