Translation was a bit unclear, either they're adding a normal mode down the line, or the next one will have a normal mode (that information is certain, just not sure about the normal mode for the first one)
Welcome to the view of healers on Yoshi P. Ever since he made that "If you want to heal, go do Ultimate." comment. And all the other stuff he said about healers like the first iteration of lilies.
This. And it seems clear that he's not completely oblivious to this either, judging by his comments at the start of the stream.I know this will sound crazy, but maybe Square shouldn't have put CS3 in charge of at least 3 additional projects and put one of the only products keeping them afloat in a death spiral. Yoshida is obviously not blameless in that given where he is in the company hierarchy.
Y "I've been feeling that our quality of service has declined recently, I am very sorry for that"
Y "Too many bugs that we need to have an emergecy maintenance or a hotfix for"
Y "I've talked to the community team and the developer team about this"
Y "It feels like we got used to things a bit too much and got comfortable"
Y "We grew bigger and processes didn't fully work the way we had intended them to, we want go improve this again"
Y "Especially with new and big content that we have recently released, this was difficult"
Which is worrying, because when your problem is created by repeatedly hitting yourself in the face, step one is to stop hitting yourself in the face instead of continuing to do so while announcing that you are well aware that a bloody nose is not optimal and are looking into ways to stop the bleeding.
This… it would take too long? To do what just about every other duty in the game does, and provide a story and hard mode? Seriously all they need to do is tweak the difficulty, remove any rez restrictions and/or body count mechs, and voila, you have a CLL equivalent that everyone can run.Castrum was fun they basically forked out the casual crowd and catered to the Savage one and that isn't very smart in my opinion. No excuse for it my view.
Castrum, DR and Dalraidia were all fun and engaging for everyone. The DRS was placed where it should have been at the end of the relic cycle as was BA.
Just really makes me feel like they went backwards from CLL, Dalriada, DR and DRS, which had something for everyone, to go back and copy BA with all the same issues. Of all the complaints about Bozja, they got it right with the instanced zone dungeons.
Also BA/DRS didn’t lock things like field notes and TT cards behind clearing them. They were challenging duties, and they each got a mount. Forked Tower is locking lore and minor rewards behind it, and for those that are there for the story, that’s very disappointing. I’d be perfectly happy letting only the Savage version have the mount if we had a story version to get the notes and TT card. And even up the currency rewards for the Savage version to get more sanguinite and even gold! But I hate that I’m going into the next zone of the content missing lore.

...
I think there is a lot of room for significant improvement.
BUT THEY WERE COMPLETELY HONEST AND THATS GREAT ON ITS OWN NO MATTER WHAT!
We asked them to talk. And they did and it was honest.
Yeah still a bit tone deaf but... there is only so much embarrassment one can deal with.
I was a little surprised that I was as emotionally disappointed, but I don't think they could have reasonably done anything else at this stage, short of breath-taking effort and commitment. And maybe that's not reasonable? Not out of the question, but not reasonable? They could have smashed the premades utterly like I want, but only if they were able to stand by their content as proggable... and its probably not. (My solution either works or it watches the whole world burn)
But...
CB3.
You just can't do this again!
If you've got future savage content spreadsheeted out and, and development time already spent... you are now going to have to tear those spreadsheets up this time... and throw that dev work in the freezer in definately.
IF YOU ARE DOING ANOTHER CLOUD OF DARKNESS IT GOES IN THE BIN TODAY!
You know... maybe you could release an ultimate light, with all its extra story, and its shiny weapons... that has absolutely no DPS check, that is slow, but which is heavy on the 6 man body checks, with room always to recover.
An ultimate raider will clear it second pull blind, someone like me will spend 2-4 weeks progging it, until I know my part of the fight perfectly... but once I do that's it.
Award casuals money for time spent progring it, just tomes or something will do.
Points for effort. Its not impossible. Casuals would adore surprising ourselves. Every caual that has had some firends help the through thier first Extreme high end knows this. But then then they are faced with farm PFs and that a whole other loads of BS.
Reward people for prog and you'll get them in DF. (especially if your brave enough to limit parties to 4/8 so they've got no choice.)
A fight that will kill any party that does not have 1.5 healers healing fully (not perfectly, not optimally, just fully) + 1 tank party mitigating fully, (between the two of them). No enrage. None at all. No DPS mitigation needed. No Food 'needed' even to prog. Level synced but needing only normal gear. When you queue you know it could be a 10 min fight for ultimate or a 40 minute fight for the likes of me.
You get the idea
Force it into DF is the point.
Reward people for entering, so there is light at the end of the tunnel while they are doing it.
Then in 12 months let people 8 man PF it.
No this is not Extreme, you can prog extreme as a casual without food and good gear, and without DPS mitigation, and it has enrage, and rewards suck, and you cant incentivise people to DF it, and ther is no story, and shiny weapons, and they don't make players feel proud or special frankly.
Your casual player needs a hug.
(Maybe shelve that next ultimate. "sorry, cost" It was very thinkable for Forked tower wasn't it? no I don't expect you to, but itsno less outrageous you did that to us. Don't do it again.)

The balls to tell the casual playerbase that they are not worth considering content for over the raiders was certainly a choice.
And then the balls tell the raiders they want to make it hard for them to even enjoy the content built for them by forcing conflict in the community was also a choice.
Who where they designing for?
The five main content creators that blow smoke up their asses and stream it, while saying how amazing it is and gaslighting the playerbase. aka Mr. Happy. The balls to tell the casual playerbase that they are not worth considering content for over the raiders was certainly a choice.

"The worst foe lies within the self."
They are making normal and "savage" for anything else in OC, Forked Tower is screwed though. Gets a premade PF thing but in the end, when they do it in 7.3 it'll just be Discord content again.
The changes to OC and Forked Tower are somehow both more and less than I expected.
Yes but if they don't have balls then we really are fckd. Or they just don't talk to us once again. Or they start outright lying. The balls to tell the casual playerbase that they are not worth considering content for over the raiders was certainly a choice.

Yes the balls indeed.
