Prolly violated FFXIV rule #1: do not ever talk using the ingame chat. Everything can be used against you by twisting the PoV. This is usually not a problem because JP players don't talk in MMOs anyways and you should adopt that behavior.

This is FFXIV, the sooner you learn to never speak in any public chat, the longer your account will last.

Stuff like this always reads like such a gargantuan self-report to me, I openly talk in public chats in this game constantly, for years, and I have never had any issue, just what are you saying, or fear saying, that could be reportable? it's legitimately not hard to never direct insults at anyone and still be social.

I mean, I am as direct as they come, I rant about stuff I don't like, even called the DEVs incompetent a few times when questionable design decisions (like the lack of OC Fate scaling due to them herding everyone into the same spot of the map) made my blood boil and never heard from a GM.

Insulting other people is a no-no for me, even if they may be competition or enemies (PvP), ultimately they are fellow gamers ans should be treated with respect (or ignored if trolls).

Right? I got a buddy who got mad at someone and they had an all out brawl in shout chat in limsa. Chat suspension. You gotta say some pretty bad stuff to catch an actual ban.

You assume Kandraxx and I do these things because we have the ability to recognise how easy it is to get banned if you are unlucky.

Now imagine people who take assumption to another level and you get the following: cotton wool idiots that get offended by something or most likely anything because they chose to, when its not even aimed at them or anyone else, such as swearing and yes, you can get banned for it.
