You're way too vague. If you're getting reported you probably have some cringe or sus stuff in your adventure plateHas anyone else had issues with being harassed by other players using the in-game report system? Since the GM's refuse to discuss, who, what and why they were reported the system can be, and is, used to harass players by reporting players they don't like.
This seems like a major oversight in the system which is allowing people to harass people, many of my friends have been falsely reported recently leading to them being banned. Surely the GMs need to check that the person reporting is the target of what is being said, which they don't seem to be at the moment. Also do they not check for the same user repeatedly reporting people?
What is everyone's thoughts on this?
This isnt an adult game btw. now you just sound like a weird predator who got caught out being creepy
Right? I got a buddy who got mad at someone and they had an all out brawl in shout chat in limsa. Chat suspension. You gotta say some pretty bad stuff to catch an actual ban.Stuff like this always reads like such a gargantuan self-report to me, I openly talk in public chats in this game constantly, for years, and I have never had any issue, just what are you saying, or fear saying, that could be reportable? it's legitimately not hard to never direct insults at anyone and still be social.
Getting banned for saying naughty words also shows a lack of creativity. FFXIV allows innuendo - heck, it's in tons of the quest titles. (Current Tumblr thread going around right now from a newer player who just discovered "The Stiff and the Spent" from the bard quests.)
The wonderful thing about the English language is that anything can sound naughty if you try hard enough.
Take any random game mechanic and twist it around, and suddenly you can /say to someone in Limsa: "I'd like to spawn your FATES" and no one can report you for that even though everyone knows exactly what you are doing.
This is a whole lotta BS to say "you're not allowed to defend yourself after being harassed" which is total horse sh*t. Like did you have an AI write all that out? Or did you actually spend the time writing up a large paragraph assuming you know everything about the situation (you don't) and then victim blaming. From what I have seen in the past 15 years is that when they choose to actually do something either they ban for the silliest of things (like minor swears) or they bring the hammer down hard and quick on the things that need it. But that being said, if a lot of your friends are getting banned, they are likely not as innocent as they are making themselves out to be.
As a gay man myself, I see a lot of lgbt players that deserve bans for the way they handle any homo/transphobia directed at them or those around them. Just because you are right, doesn't mean you are acting or responding correctly to a situation and we should be able to call out and report bad behaviour even when its from ppl who are responding to bad behavior. Be an adult, handle a situation well and no need to worry about SE banning you. However, throwing a tantrum like a child or being nasty right back is grounds for a ban, and should be. Being part of our community does not make you exempt from reprocussions if you do not know how to handle yourself well in the face of adversity.
You assume Kandraxx and I do these things because we have the ability to recognise how easy it is to get banned if you are unlucky.Stuff like this always reads like such a gargantuan self-report to me, I openly talk in public chats in this game constantly, for years, and I have never had any issue, just what are you saying, or fear saying, that could be reportable? it's legitimately not hard to never direct insults at anyone and still be social.
Now imagine people who take assumption to another level and you get the following: cotton wool idiots that get offended by something or most likely anything because they chose to, when its not even aimed at them or anyone else, such as swearing and yes, you can get banned for it.
