One funny thing is that Dawntrail got a whole race ported over from FFX as an “Allied Society” complete with a theme mixed with a song from FFX and a lot of people I’ve talked to who are big fans of FFX didn’t even notice.

To be fair, the Pelupelu aren't exactly the most iconic thing to come out of X, even if a fully developed Dock Poga looks suspiciously similar to one of Rin's Travel Agencies. I'm not the biggest fan of the source game but I did play it, and I didn't even remember the Pelupelu existed until I went and looked them up in a wiki.

I think I was the only person in my friend group to recognize the Pelupelu. And I mostly remember them from X-2 due to the character Tobli being involved in some sidequests.

Of course, that hypothetical proposes that there are FF2 fans, and across the over twenty years I've been following the series, I haven't seen any evidence of that.
