All of that basically means that while they do take the chance to do those references, they're references you really have to take a running shot at

They've said that back when they planned Endwalker as two expansions, the final raid was gonna be Anima. We know very little about the rest of that version of things, so nobody can tell you if the Magus Sisters faced the same fate.

I get feeling like we missed something there, but with Anima specifically I think it was a good move. As much as I love Anima's design... they kinda aren't doing a whole lot, they'd be a bit of a dull boss for an extended period in this game.
