That's inaccurate. People like to deflect with that, but it's not remotely true. Go into a PVP game while losing by a 90% margin and you will see some vile shit get spewed. If people are afraid of getting reported those people are idiots. I've pretty much been unfiltered for almost 12 years and I have never been reported for language.

I think it's just more console players and just player contempt. Even when you join FCs it's a crap shoot if you even fit in let alone get treated like a human being. Groups mostly consist of the bare minimum and dead FCs. It's just such a terrible experience that I can't fathom how people have such positive ones. They must have the lowest bar for what friendly is.

I've been on Aether and Primal and Crystal it makes no damn difference. Not a single person I have played with or joined their FC or Discord in the past year has wanted to play this game at all. It has been such a negative experience I'm still shocked I haven't unsubscribed and walked away permanently and no this isn't a Dawntrail is bad post. This was like this before Dawntrail. It's just a steady decline and I'm tired of it.

But how? I always join FCs and friend groups wanting to play with others and they're never on. If they are on they're on different servers and they are busy doing something. After a few weeks of passing "Hellos" and "goodnights" are they your friends?

I'm an adult I have a job. I'm not going to lie to you and say I'm giving it 110% because I'm not, but I've tried and tried and tried. I'm fucking sick of it. Why is it so hard to find people who want to play the fucking game they're paying for?

The players who if they even do say anything give you an "o/" and a "gg" The only time anyone engages in anything it's negativity. Either you or someone else sucks and they feel the need to dunk on you.

People DC travel all the time, that's why FC's have discord chats, it's to do meetups if wanted.

The "I have a job" excuse doesnt fly not gonna lie, there's a lot of people with a job in the game and some with a lot of friends.

With that said, the vision of friendship for most people in FFXIV is very interesting to say the least, from my own experience, I've had people I hadnt talked to for 6 months (even tho they played the game) tell me they were my best friend when they talked to me again after that long, and I stared at them and I was like "No you're not ? If we were best friends you wouldnt ignore my existence for 6 months"

TLDR : You expect too much from this game, FF14 is an afk simulator/hangout simulator with a tiny side of content, the faster you accept that the better you'll be in the long run.

Aye, I think I mentioned before that I've given up on the social element of this game and just treat it as a online single player game with very sophisticated bots whenever I do group content, as even when visiting Aether and Primal (can't really speak for Crystal), one still ends up ignored or being treated rudely, to the point it felt like having "Maduin" by my name made me feel like a pariah everywhere but Dynamis, but there's hardly anyone there so of course one isn't going to get a social interaction, positive or negative.

Which is just another reason why transferring away feels pointless for me, because I doubt I'm suddenly going to end up with friends or a worthwhile FC just because I moved, or how the only reason to do so would be to get faster queues but... I'm not doing PVP right now (don't need the marks/crystals/poetics, max Series level, hasn't been fun with the 7.1 & 7.2 updates), or roulettes (don't need the XP/poetics/rarely get clusters as DPS, Stormblood content polluting the results). Ironically, not having any queues to do has made me stay on Maduin more than ever, where I spend most of my day flying across empty zones for dailies and AFKing in empty streets afterwards. Maybe being on Aether or Primal will have more people standing around, but it doesn't mean they're gonna want to have anything to do with me so no sense paying to find out the grass is brown over there too.

If you've been in multiple FCs on multiple servers across multiple Data Centers and you've had the same experience in every one, the only common thread there is you. Read your own post and pretend it's someone else posting it. Would you want to hang out with that person?

To be fair I went to Aether to play with a friend and she's since moved to Costa Rica. I moved to Primal to play with an old FC mate who has since quit the game and then to Crystal for the same reasons. I normally bounce back to Dynamis for the free transfer and I honestly like the community aspect of it more, but it's not ideal. Every FC you join is a crapshoot that is probably worse because of DC travel and not needing to be on Dynamis coupled with all of the single-player aspects that have shifted player behavior. Why would I join an FC for anything other than the buffs when I have trusts?

I'm not saying I'm the victim here. All I'm saying is something shifted in player behavior and attitude and it sucks. I can't seem to find a decent FC and if I move to let's say Aether if it opens up. What's to say that the very same aspect doesn't crop up again? Before you could help people clear content and make friends. Now I can't. Nobody is ever on and if they are they're doing their own thing and ignoring the FC.

How the hell do you thrive in that? Brave new world and all that junk, but I have been trying. It's not that easy.

I was honest with everyone. That's been my experience in the last few years I have been playing. And it's only gotten worse. The FC I am in now is only good for movie nights and that's a sad commentary, to say the least. I just want someone anyone who wants to play the game. Do the new raids with. Give me a reason to not just uninstall and quit.

I can understand your frustration. I wasn't attacking you, just trying to make you aware of how all this comes across. If that's how you conduct yourself in an FC it's no surprise they haven't been working out.

I can't say I agree with the claim that the game is an AFK lobby simulator. I guarantee I can go to any populated area on my server right now and start chatting with randos and making friends. However, I do agree that it can definitely be difficult finding the right FC. A lot of them just want to collect as many warm bodies as possible and the leadership isn't really interested in doing much of anything to make it a fun place for the members. Have you tried using the community finder to vet FCs before you join them? It's actually a very useful resource and may help you find a better fit before going through the same ordeal again.
