They should go after ANY lootboxes and gachas... and trying to circumvent that should get them REALLY painfull fines with refunds AND on repeated strike bans. Companies WILL use any loophole and thus they need to be regulated the hell out of em.Gambling is illegal in most places understanding it as activities where you bet with real money, which those venues don't deal in (they gamble gil). Otherwise, the prohibitions could get a lot more absurd as they would have to adress any kind of RNG based loot or reward system without a concrete directive of what kind of stakes are forbidden or not. And even then, companies will still find ways around prohibitions (gachas, lootboxes).
It's one thing when games targeted to young audiences stop adding gambling minigames due to parental concerns (because chances are that, by "newer games", you're referring to the Pokemon cases with casinos). Staking virtual currencies that hold no real material value nor can be converted to/from real curreny with other players is another.
I am still VERY annoyed they took that from the games but also, we cant tell if they do rmt in the background or use won gil to sell it.
And listen, its not like i care too much but pushing this all so much into public will sooner or later catch attention and then? It would suck if SE had to police way harder or raise the age...
I still wished they'd make reports easier...
I cant give you prove but they do sell it.
Thats not the only problem in that regard. Imagine someone with a gambling addiction but without gil in his pockets. The person could probably end up buying gil from some thrid party website. Not saying its a common thing but it does happen.
honestly blacklist the character it's probably the only thing you can really do
That's good and all but we're still talking about players who are doing games of chance betting with currency that has no significative impact beyond the game's bounds. And RMT is a wholly unrelated matter that is both strictly forbidden and actively looked at by SE. Is it possible that there is someone who did RMT to get the gil for the gambling? Maybe, who knows. Is it supposed to be RMT? No. Unless proven otherwise, it's assumed everyone plays by the ToS, regardless of how right the assumption is. And again, if gambling currency earned in-game were to be bad, we would also have to axe plenty other activities that are, after a fashion, gambling: Field Exploration lootboxes, restoration's scratch tickets, cosmic fortune, both cactpots, and a long etc. They should go after ANY lootboxes and gachas... and trying to circumvent that should get them REALLY painfull fines with refunds AND on repeated strike bans. Tell me the only place you hang out is Limsa without telling me the only place you hang out is Limsa.
Fine-tuning the term filter will eliminate 90% of them and it's trivial to mute/blacklist the rest.

"Oh noes, people are playing the game and having fun with events! We must stop this immediately!! Ban them all for having fun and inviting other people to join!!"
This is you. This is what you sound like.
