Apparently the space suit cuts tails off which is lame. Trading tails for ears I guess.

I guess the characters are real good at tucking.

But unless they were going to fully encase the tail in a special tail suit as well (because you don't want any skin or fur exposed in a vacuum; it defeats the purpose of a space suit) it makes sense that the alternate version is just forcing you to slide your tail down one leg.
