Well said.Instanced housing would eliminate this crap. The entire 21st ward on Chuchulainn is literally owned by the same person/group and its obvious.
Housing should be universal!
1 per player upon rank.
upgradable with gil
free company housing should be available upon rank
also upgradable with gil and locked behind rank (maybe)
This is beyond unfair and the current system (lottery joke) does not stop this crap from happening.
DO BETTER SE!!!
Sadly, SE is too stuck in their ''OH WE NEED WARDS, OH EVERYONE CAN PURCHASE HOUSES, SO MAKE A NEW ACCOUNT AND PURCHASE HOUSE''
A hope is that bright light burning within each and everyone of us!
That's also not someone who's taking away houses from players who have been struggling to get one for years. Those players are on different worlds and data centers. The housing wards are not a shared resource between worlds. They are world specific.
The only reason some players manage to get an entire ward is no players were interested in purchasing houses in the ward when it opened. It's not difficult to slowly fill a ward over time when no other players want to own there.
If those complaining about not being able to get a house had bothered to go to the Dynamis worlds, they'd have a house. Even now they can still get a house, though they may be out of luck if they want a medium or large.
I still place the majority of the blame on SE for the system design. Fully instanced housing is far more flexible when servers are going to vary in population and players tend to get attached to the world they create their character(s) on. This problem should have been foreseen.
But players need to accept part of the blame themselves for not taking advantage of the opportunity when presented if owning a house is that important to them. Data center travel is not the major inconvenience that some fear outside the very heavy congestion periods for the first few days of a new content release. I was using it quite often, mostly between Crystal and Dynamis, and rarely had to wait more than a minute when travelling.
With the current supply issue, detaching the workshop from house ownership seems like a reasonable way to mitigate the problem (though not remove it). It would at least discourage new plots from being taken by the sub farms when other players don't step up to buy them as new wards get added or houses otherwise become available.
Both are capable of existing together. Make the entrance to fully instanced housing a place within the wards and foot traffic in the wards could increase to the benefit of the ward house owners.
That's the main problem with the wards. Unless you happen to have a house next to a very large and active FC, a ward is always going to feel empty. If the wards are only going to have one player in them 98% of the time, housing might as well be instanced.
I wonder how many players will lose interest in housing once they take away wards and make instanced housing available for everyone.
Housing is instanced in FFXIV, House Ward with Instanced Houses inside and futher more Instanced Apartments and on top of that instanced FC rooms.
You got the full package as it is in FFXIV.
The wards themselves are not instanced, they are permanently loaded, which is why “just add more wards” is a problematic “solution” to making sure there’s enough housing plots for everyone.
One could dream, and hope the devs saw our disappointment that Island Sanctuary did not end with us getting a housing plot on our islands, and decide to give us a biodome on the moon (complete with holographic technology for choosing our background scenery!) for Cosmic Exploration! A large chunk of MSQ to get through until you could reach it, but at least you would know at some point you’re guaranteed an actual plot.
Is it a bad thing if a lot of players did lose interest should that happen? It would show much of the interest in housing was artificial, more about serving the ego of having something others want but don't have, Supply would no longer be restricted, allowing any player with a genuine interest in housing as content to participate.
The potential for the full package is already there.
SE has designed the system so it is unable to reach that full potential by tying ownership of a house to a specific plot in a limited number of wards, and the size of the house to an even more limited number of specific plots.
Only when SE changes the system so every player can get the plot they want will players have access to a full package.
Other MMORPGs have had thriving housing communities in their games despite their housing being fully instanced so everyone could participate as they want. It's a shame that FFXIV has to be otherwise.
No it wouldn't be bad. That's the point i'm trying to imply. Is it a bad thing if a lot of players did lose interest should that happen? Many houses are abandoned. Housing wards are mostly empty. Plots are left without any form of decoration.
This tells me the individual who purchased the plot has no interest in housing, they just want to own one.
I'd rather housing be available to everyone. I see no benefit in having empty lifeless wards.
I love the ward system though, so I support both ward and instance housing and I'm ok with the ward system having an auto demo but the instanced doesn't. I have suggested to update Island Sanctuary to have a housing plot you could upgrade from a small to a mansion and so on.
Meow Mansion - Rinoa's personal mansion located in Exodus LB W28 P28
Mihgo Manor - Minaa's personal mansion located in Seraph Shiro W14 P60

Is that there's no content that takes place in the player housing awards. No one is gonna be out in a housing ward unless they have their own reason for being there. No it wouldn't be bad. That's the point i'm trying to imply.

When players decorate the house most will simply move on to the next thing. It's like a toy they have their fun with it. Get bored and move on to the next thing.
But my experience with seeing the housing crisis is. Players want housing, but they don't want apartments and they'd rather not use them, but they want something to decorate..
Players complaining that there's not enough housing but will not move to where the housing is.
People upset that they're not winning the lotteries but will not settle for a small home And would rather their chances against 150 people for a large.
I really did hope that the few plants had opened up in my war.The players would go for them but because they were small. The only players that were interested were players that made f.C's just to level up to buy them to go inactive.
It's the weird juxtaposition. People say the housing system's not good enough but are too good for what's available
"On a distance island, far away from civilization.."
