8.0 story wish

Since dawn trail had inspirations from ff9, I hope 8.0 has major inspiration from ffx.


I want us to be sucked into a shard and be on our own, maybe because Cid was doing some experiments of the major story maguffin of 7.0. I want us to be a Tidus analogue. we get to meet a newish cast of character all while we are fighting against that shards version of Azem and their comrades. A shard of Azem who thinks that they have all the answers and has managed to create a kind of cult around their fragment of our communal soul.

I would love it if major story beets were punctuated with mean while in the first. the Scions and other character reacting to and trying to solve the problem that the warrior of light has vanished from the world and all known realities.


I mean It seems like a cool idea, and if nothing else ffx brought us bitzball. a minigame that I hated, but I know a lot of you loved.

Only problem is it's a bit immersion breaking teleporting back to the main city mid expansion.

Though the concept is really cool I would love a story like that, gives the scions something to do but they wouldn't really be center stage (I hope)

Please... no. I'm so sick of Garlemald. They started out as an annoying, arrogant, aggressive bunch and ended up as an annoying, arrogant, whiny bunch. The nameless grunts are always incompetent - on a good day at least. And every guy with a name is a complete psychopath - except the defectors, they are angels walking amongst us. Alphisae chasing the achievement to kiss the butt of every Garlean past, present and future didn't help matters. So if I had one wish for the future direction of the game.... no more Garleans, please.

Much as I agree, it's already too late for Garlemald. Endwalker was supposed to be two expansions. That was supposed to be the expansion BEFORE Endwalker. From Garlemald to the Moon, climaxing on the defeat of Zodiark and the return of the Final Days. They canned it to rush out the finale, EW. And for what? So they could hurry up and get to the story they REALLY wanted to tell...

Which was Dawntrail. Yeah.....

Look, the Garlemald plot is dead, it's over. They should have done it at the logical time, but they chose to rush the story. Sorry.

EDIT: the Bozja stuff was so dry and boring. And they wrapped it all up offscreen. That's also Kill, I'm sorry.

Also, "Spare no expense" was what they were SUPPOSED to be doing with 14 from Endwalker onward. They said so in the EW Media Tour. And, well... look where we are now...

I wouldn't mind an original story either going into the former provinces of Garlemald or going to Meracydia. Either place we go finally learning something about Azem since s/he seems to be the final remaining plot thread from the past arc.

But if we have to take inspiration from another game I'd like for them to going for a story like Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together. Using the Scions seeming gravitation of helping the little guy finally biting them in the butt.

If I'm not mistaken, Tactics Ogre: LUCT is Yoshida's literal favorite game of all time. I'd love to see him work some of that into 14. Alas, after DT, I don't take their capacity for serious storytelling, well.... seriously anymore

Maybe they could take a book out of FFX's writing and write better characters while they're at it.

I don't want them to focus on spreading memberberries, I want them to focus on making a good solid story with interesting characters with interesting motivations and an interesting world, that is believable and not just a vessel for their "theme" of the expansion.

I will be surprised if we get to travel with a new cast, I doubt they will take a risk like that. But I am hopeful we get an addition to our adventuring crew picked up from patch 7.2, you know who I mean.

A lot of Final Fantasies have a core love story in the middle of them, maybe it's time for 14 to try an expansion with that too, if they are so intent on honoring and showcasing old Final Fantasies.

I hope the Dimensional Key turns out to not be what we think it is, and it turns out to be Auracite, but it gets stolen in the lead up to 8.0. And so we have to get it back, and our adventure send us back to Dalmasca where we defeated Ultima The High Seraph, and back into the Aetherial Sea where we defeated Athena where we learn that it is being mined for energy, and the mining operation is being carried out from Meracydia.

And so we have to get it back, and our adventure send us back to Dalmasca where we defeated Ultima The High Seraph, and back into the Aetherial Sea where we defeated Athena where we learn that it is being mined for energy, and the mining operation is being carried out from Meracydia.

unfortunately, chances that ultima and dalmasca will be involved are close to 0, because:-
1-side content
2-everything related to ivalice was 100% scrapped

this is definitely the biggest clue to why people believe that the game's team skipped a planned garlemald expansion, it seems bozja was supposed to be continued in the following expansion, but they just closed what happened to the 4th leigon in the codex shortly after they released the final part of bozja

these are 2 very strong reasons why we can't expect ANY high seraph involvment, beside, look at how they speed-ran old lore in endwalker like path of the twelve, they just want to close these and build new lore and new stuff, they even recently published a lore\story builder job listing for XIV

the twleve questline was a big chance for the deities to talk about older eras and calamities and reveal more lore, but it is what it is i guess

Yeah, Dalmasca might be trickier to pull off, but I think making Pandaemonium MSQ relevant could be a safer option considering its ties to The Heart of Sabik, and Ascians, and can be used to point us in the direction of like Ultima Prime being the big bad or something.
