I've just done a few roulettes and I absolutely hate it.
They took all the fun out...
Some people enjoy a bit of depth in their job and all of that is gone now.

I was seeing more BLM players in 7.0 as well and the growth of BLM just looks to be continuing for me. It is much easier to play now for sure, I think for the majority the job will now be more nice to play. Honestly shocked it wasn't simplified sooner given how popular Black Mage is overall due to it being iconic within FF series as a whole.
Sorry you're not enjoying it, I felt the same going from STB astro to SHB ast. But I am quite enjoying the changes myself.

Again my ignorance on Black Mage is what has me confused as an outsider looking in.

I think they were trying to do the changes people were asking for because it seems to be liberating limitations that otherwise held the Job back. I think 2 seconds is still a long cast time. . .
But maybe it have been better just to reduce all cast times by .2 seconds instead... Does that sound better?

Anyways as I know I don't know much about Black Mages this will be all I'll say about it.
I'll Leave you guys to it I'm out of my depth and I just don't understand since I didn't live the black mage life.

You don't have any idea what you're talking about , so why are you even interjecting your opinion? To put it to you in a way you might understand, what they've done to BLM was like taking 5.0 SAM and turning it into 7.1 VPR literally overnight.

There's literally no skill to playing it now. None. It feels fuckin odd to fuck up my rotation, KNOW that I fucked it up, and yet.... there's no penalty, really. It's literally giving me a cognitive dissonance that is frankly disgusting. When you make the timer such an important part of the job, and you rip it out, but dont' put anything in its place.... you've ruined it.

This. They absolutely, as a culture, don't get sarcasm. The Japanese are an oddly earnest people in many ways. They either mean EXACTLY what they say, or they're lying, but no sarcasm. It mostly flies over their heads.

I'm glad they literally ruined my main, my favorite job, just to make you slightly less inconvenienced. I'm so happy that I'm unsubbed now. After all, they don't need ME anymore... they have YOU!

You can unsub or do like I did when they made ast into something I didn't enjoy, play a different job. If BLM was all that was keeping you here that's fair enough to unsub and play a different game. I swapped to BLM for a tier but found myself too busy to raid as much as I would like, so I am taking a break on savage till I finish my studies. Just because I also enjoy other jobs doesn't make my enjoyment of BLM any lesser than yours. Nor make me any less entitled to a BLM I enjoy playing.

Also JP people understand sarcasm perfectly well, Kyoto people especially. Can y'all stop making ridiculous blanket statements about an entire country of people.

Not what I am saying at all, you've as much right to it as I do. And for a long time that's exactly what you had, similar to what I had with AST in stb. Really that simple. It sucks it's changed to something you really can't find joy in, but others also find it more enjoyable.

Aelin never said its ok because it only benefits HER.
It benefits more people than it actually hurts. Which is true. It even benefits the random YOU get in your next expert.
Ofc it sucks that BLM got changed to cater to the majoity of the playerbase. Even I'm not happy about it and i only mess around on BLM in turbo casualcontent but I dont go off at people for having a different opinion than I do.

Well let's be honest, if you're a caster: they already gutted SMN as you pointed out, RDM is a hybrid caster at best and frustrating with how impotent it feels. That left BLM for true caster mains, and the sad thing is that's arguably still the case.

But BLM is simpler than PCT now. It's simpler than SMN. It's primary damage rotation is on par with White Mage right now. Hell, I would argue White Mage DPS is more complicated because at least you need to consider your Lilies for Blood Lily stuff. At least in AoEs, there's an illusion of choice with how to manage Holy. BLM doesn't even have that.

The way fight design is going, I can kind of understand removing Timers. Fine. But removing Timers and giving BLM nothing in its place to necessitate a proper rotation is not okay. This would be like if when they reworked SMN, they didn't even give you your summons and all you had to do was Ruin spam, with the odd Aetherflow.

I was quite content to leave my initial post to stand on it's own. I've made my point and didn't discuss further with others because I had nothing to add or detract. I responded because they quoted me and were rude about it. Some people are unhappy with the changes and that's perfectly valid. SMN could do with some complexity being returned for sure, but I am much happier that it actually matches it's name and expectation I have for a summoner, when I was new and found it to be more of a dot mage with only the occaisional cool summon I was disappointed. Although much as I do love bahamut I was not thrilled to see them just tack on another version of bahamut to it for dawntrail, that feels really lazy. I like others was hoping for something like Odin, Ramuh, Shiva to be added as alternatives to Ifrit, Garuda and Titan.

I said already I enjoyed the slow BLM style a lot, I never liked sps blm at all. I wanted slow casts with big meaty hits. But given how much movement is in the combat encounters even the slower cast time is still feeling alright to me and I am enjoying the job still. It could still be made better, thunder still needing you to swap element is seeming laregly pointless for instance. And I hope in 8.0 they lean into the big booms aspect and change up the astral/umbral phase. I've as much to dislike over jobs being made more samey and simple in the name of broader appeal as anyone else given my three mained jobs in stb were AST, MNK and DRK. I've never been able to enjoy DRK since. On the plus side the newer classes having much less button bloat and more approachable rotations means I've been able to recruit more friends to play who fell off other games due to have to many buttons to spam, *cough* WoW.
