    Auto start important quests

During this DT disaster I have been playing other games, mainly WoW and one thing I have had happen to me multiple times is I get to a certain point and a quest will automatically pop up in my quest list with a small sound effect directing me to some sort of content I had no idea even existed.

This has helped me immensely with not missing content and important quests that I would have otherwise missed simply because I didn't know they were even a thing that existed and I really feel this should be implemented here, esp in early game as a qol feature for new players instead of relying on them to either stumble upon them, remember they exist or hunting down the info online considering new players especially may not even know what to look for.

Sure the quests are blue, and you can make them blue, purple, green, golden, shiny, or spin and flash like a disco ball, but if a player is not on the correct map or actually knows to look for them, many are easy to miss.

For instance at level 30 there shouldn't be just a small, easy to miss message that just says I can start job quests, have them auto start and direct the player to the npc. The chocobo license quest and the quest that makes your choco an npc companion should be the same. The new expansion/patch starter quests, alliance raids, 8 man raids, deep dungeons, and many other important blue quests are all things new players are not going to just know about and would be super helpful. And if they don't want to participate in that content that is fine and we already have the ability to untrack quests.

This would solve so much of the, "I didn't know..." or "I didn't remember..." problems some new players have and even for vets it would just add convenience.

    Anyway, just a thought.

    IMO, no..

Because this can quickly bloat the active quest log.

Just make more meaningful use of the "Recommendations", to display proper recommendations, and not this "Here's the sidequests in your current area"

Like I said that is already covered with a feature that is available in game. Just untrack them or allow them to be cancelled and revert to a blue quest. Knowing things exist and where to go for them would be much more helpful than a couple quests listed on a menu most ppl barely look at would be detrimental.

They do it better in some other games, true, but they have added stuff to help new players in this area:

Recommendations exists if on the same map (pointless though because you can just literally open the map).

The Scenario Guide directs people to Job Quests instead of the next MSQ quest sometimes, as far as I remember. I have this disabled but new players won't.

Most important blue quests tend to be at the relevant city states, and the MSQ takes you back to all of them sometimes after beating each expansion. It's just ARR's that are a bit of a problem because some blue quests are just classes, jobs or leves.

All the blue quests outside city states are relevant after ARR - they are Aether Currents or dungeons.

My problems with those is that it can very quickly be intrusive, even if done in earnest. Across an expansion, between all the Aether Currents, feature unlocks like Scrip system, additional dungeons, trials, and raids, you're quickly going in excess of what the maximum quest log allows. Even if you, say, untick them so they aren't in the log, you still have them present on journal. This would be very intimidating as a new player when they get to Post-ARR and it has just decided to assign you 20-something quests because of all the Post-ARR dungeons, optional dungeons, hard-mode trials, extreme trials, etc.,

It's the same thing with cancelling those quests, it requires that the player knows what they are cancelling, e.g., is it a dungeon? or a trial? or a raid? Or is it a random feature unlock? This is why I still think expanding and making "Recommendations" more relevant would be the best middle-ground. People don't check these because more oft than not it's just on-area, as opposed to game-wide recommendations.

If it could make recommendations game-wide, and look more at the overall completion of the character in relation to duties unlocked, and then give recommendations based on that, in addition to whether it's a trial, or a dungeon.. Versus, telling me to go do Singularity Reactor because it's the only on-level trial I have., and have unlocked.

I think you didn't read or skimmed what I posted or maybe I explained it poorly. I also understand some ppl see a feature from WoW or FFXI being asked for an have the knee jerk reaction of, "Not in MY game, go play FFXI/WoW if you want that, but its not welcome here!" which is funny considering how much in XIV is already borrowed from those 2 games, and idk if you feel that way or not, so let me again explain.

That is why I stated important things, not all blue quests. Class to job unlocks at level 30, chocobo and chocobo npc, retainer ventures and deep dungeons that is 5 pre-50 that get unlocked at different times and only more if you get another class to 30, which stilll isn't horrible and spread out to the point you could even throw gold saucer, PVP and maps in there. At 50 there would be HW msq, extremes, coil, scrips/master crafter (if crafting gathering is high enough so half at best new players would get this), and CT. 60 would have Stb MSQ, Void Ark, warring triad, Eureka, Alex, 70 would be ShB MSQ, Ivalice, Omega, HoH, Bozja, etc etc. The only ones I would exclude are blue quests that unlock with msq progression and are right next to msq, the weapons trial series for instance.

Mind you these would not all unlock at the exact same time, esp pre-50 since the new expac MSQ isn't unlocked until after all the patch content and outside of a new expac they can even cancel these so you only get a pop up for the first new expansion or new patch quest since they unlock where the previous one ends. Some also require certain other conditions to be met, so there wouldn't necessarily be 5 things popping up at once unless you are active enough that having 5 pop up at once would most likely be exciting. If you are overwhelmed by a handful of quests that unlock as you progress then idk what to tell you. Inundating a player with quests for every dungeons, every classless job unlock, every aether current, etc yes would be overwhelming, that is why I specifically stated important or large content piece quests. I have gotten 2 or 3 at the same time in WoW and it's a non issue. I couldn't imagine this being that stressful for any player and we really shouldn't refuse to help everyone because 1 or 2 ppl may get upset at a 2 quest boxes popping up at the same time, cause if you do get that freaked out by it, you frankly have a lot bigger problems to sort out.
