Tanaka had some awesome ideas, yoshi shouldn't just throw em awayI love how people complain about topics people post and say that there is a thread already for that.
And when someone does the opposite and posts in the thread that it should go in, he gets hate for "necrobumping". I think it's a good topic to talk about. They both had different visions. I personally liked how much slower leveling was with Tanaka, while I love the way battle is now with Yoshi.
I actually agree with you Rokien....
Here is the main thing I think Tanaka had that was cool
Open world instanced.....
I know, I know.. guildleves got repetitive and are probably not the best implementation of this... but the idea of instanced content that occurs in the open world is a very innovative idea
I agree with that, it's like a best of two worlds almost. I loved leves, they were a great addition to the game. They were the quests that if you wanted to level up on, you could, or you could do behest, or just normal grind exp. There were many options. Now, I'm affraid of these quests hubs turning into questchaining.I actually agree with you Rokien....

Honestly though... I hate questions like "Would you prefer open world or instanced content?"I agree with that, it's like a best of two worlds almost. I'm greedy... I want open world... instanced... and Open world Instanced!!!!!
(I want it all)
I don't think we've seen the last of open world instanced though... I hope
i think Tanaka was the best man for the job, period. he was old school and not afraid to bend the the ropes to achieve his vision, he had Great unique idea's that worked..just missing a bit of Polish. unfortunately, like all bad press it causes CEO's to cower an plot who'll take the fall for there failure.
Yoshi on the other hand seems hell bent on creating a patchwork doll of stuff that works in other mmo's. that's good but it often leaves me with the feeling I've played this game before. he also takes feedback from the forums...which i might add is full of people that wouldn't know what a real MMO is, if it walked up to them and slapped them in the face. complain enough and Yoshi will find the time to stitch it into that massive patchwork MMO he's making.
his success is questionable at best...so far all of his "implementations" have been recycled...want a dungeon wait a few months and you'll get a different corridor and mobs with an hour to complete it. want a new primal fight wait a few months and you'll get a circle, a primal, and some recycled mechanics. the only thing that's new is the color of paint.
i just hope this 2.0 they keep spouting about all over the forums is as good as Yoshi thinks it is, if its not I'm sure he'll be working right along side Tanaka soon after its "Rushed" launch.
You do understand that the dungeons have physically been in the game since way before Yoshi took the reins?i think Tanaka was the best man for the job, period. he was old school and not afraid to bend the the ropes to achieve his vision, he had Great unique idea's that worked..just missing a bit of Polish. unfortunately, like all bad press it causes CEO's to cower an plot who'll take the fall for there failure.

If it wasn't for Yoshi-P we wouldn't be playing an awesome game right now ( at least to me anyways) and its at least playable... When it was Tanaka.. we could barely play the game at all.. He had like 5-6 years to work on this MMO.. and to say it was "rushed" is out of the question.. He had all the time in the world to make this MMO, and he blew it horribly. Now its Yoshi-P's Turn to make things happen. ( In which he is).
Of course not everyone is going to like it.. but that's life right?
is that right? all i remember are blocked off area's. besides your instanced into a new zone, a new map if you will. there is absolutely no reason why you cant have expansive area's inside this zone. is there a clause in the SE FFXIV development code book that says all Dungeons must contain a corridor(s), must contain 2 bosses and have at least one dotting mob or is it a simple cookie cutter solution?
It was playable, I had a lot of fun with tanakas game. I didn't complain once about tanakaIf it wasn't for Yoshi-P we wouldn't be playing an awesome game right now ( at least to me anyways) and its at least playable... I have to say that I didn't find guild leves THAT repetitive. Perhaps they could've used some more aetheryte camps to spread things out and give more options. Maybe make Halatali better for four people parties and make broken water better for eight people parties. But in all honesty they managed something that wasn't straight enemy killing and wasn't as repetitive and boring as quest chains. It was a good idea that I wish they hadn't put on the back burner.
But yes! thumbs up for open world instances. Not that I necessarily approve of this over full open world but why have any instances when you can have your instances in open world.
You don't need a reason to help someone~
