What happened to the community

They are not and it's ridiculous to suggest that they are. There are actually people who play on Playstations that clear all these things. Most likely as our Xbox sprouts become more experienced they will as well.
They obviously mean "desirable". You may occasionally clip an ability due to ping but it's not exactly going to mean you can't clear things. There are so many ways to increase and optimize damage (not to mention RNG) that going crazy over a 0.01 second delay is... a bit silly. They could also try a VPN to improve it.
All the work prior to 7.0 release was actually backend stuff: shader changes, graphics code, supporting for dynamic resolutions, FSR and DLSS, Player Characters and new expansion gear/areas.

The old stuff was meant to be done in patches. But it is hard to see evidence that anywhere else was changed other than Western Thanalan that they showed in the patch notes. I hope they are doing a lot more than 1 area in the other patches, or it'll take years to get through the ARR areas alone.

im not sure why your dismiss a lot of his bad actions as " a character" when the guy got banned for it and has been salty about it ever since despite doing nothing to improve. if it was a character then that's quite the dedication to the role. he even sat back as his community harassed the gms in and out of game to defend "my liege"

Well if you go to a certain video(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rUN_...nel=XenosysVex) You can see on 0:42 that he very much thinks this is essential to have(along with many other raid related mods). This is a big youtuber in the community now actively saying these things are essential. Make no mistake, I am not personally saying they are nor do I use them, but they are being recommended to people.

Nothing happened. It has always been like this.

The only changes that have happened is the game has 'grown' since the olden days, this means that people are more connected than they once were, e.g., DC travel, cross-world PF etc., so drama, scandals and toxicity isn't just kept to the small circles like it once was, and for better or worse some streamers know that drama sells, so if there's drama, they will cover it. Videos and the sort that cover general FFXIV news, tips, etc., may only generate 20-30K views, but covering drama the number game easily doubles in many cases. When 1 person sees the success of someone covering this, they then feel more inclined to follow.

The only real difference is passive aggressiveness has now turned into direct forms of aggressiveness, which in many cases the former is worse than the latter. EU/NA have different approaches to content which just in general lends itself to toxicity and conflict, it always has, even since the days of Gordias/Midas. We have always been generally a lot more impatient too, e.g., kick for low DPS in the days of HW/SB, skip x mechanic or kick, e.g., Zurvan skip soar. Even in the early days then we still had quite a few very toxic influencers. So it isn't really anything new.

You aren't out of touch with how the game is, but you are out of touch with how the game once was, because all of this has always been the case.

Xeno is leaving out some additional needed info but he's not entirely wrong.
If you are trying to perform at a high level and you unfortunately live too far from the data centers then yes, you kinda do need NoClippy or XIVAlexander, because the animation lock system in place is so atrociously bad that you get additionally punished on top of already suffering from bad ping to a point where you can simply not play your job properly.

The reason why the current animation lock is so bad is because when you use an action it should apply a ~500ms animation lock that prevents you from using your next ability. The problem however is that this fixed 500ms lockout applies after the server responds, so on top of the normal animation lock your ping gets added on top of that, punishing you for something you have no control over.

Should it be this way? Obviously not, needing a plugin to fix a core issue with the game should not be a thing.

I've been playing since 2.2. The community hasn't changed. So look for the problem in yourself and why they started treating you like that.

I disagree. I play FFXIV since 2.0 early release (not on this account, this is my PSN account, my old PC account is not active)
You used to see everyone say hi at the start of a dungeon and ty at the end of it.... Now if you have one saying Hi it's a mircacle.
You used to see long funny macro at the start of a dungeon.... Now it's rare like an unicorn.
You used to see chat during dungeon, funny comment when a mistake was made, laugh etc.... Now you see an empty chat or some toxic comment.
You used to see tank asking if big pull was okay, apologie for pulling the boss during CS and even reset the boss.... Now, it's very rare.... They hit sprint without warning and don't give a sh*t about new player.
You ussed to see people not pulling or pressuring new tank on they first time in a dungeon, and even gladly help him.... Now people are impatient and do the complete opposite.
You used to see people stay after a dungeon/raid/trial and do emote for cheering and encouraging a new player, or to say they liked how you played... Now you only see it from time to time.(i even got a full party cheering me the first time i completed Ridorana lighthouse back in SB)
You used to see people stick to the end or at least wait until 30minutes left before asking for an abandon vote in EX trial.... Now you see 2 to 3 peoples quiting after 1 or 2 try only.
You used to see people running around giving gills/minion/glam to new player (i even saw a guy during a christmas waiting close to Alberic and giving gift to all the dragoon under 50 passing by).... Now it's a very rare occurence.
Quiter at the start of ex trials were rare (the main offender were tanks on Ramuh) now you see it very often, even in normal content dungeon.

So yeah, the community is not what it used to be.

As others have said - I think the community didn’t change, your particular circles might have, that’s it. The idea that some massive players exodus corrupted it - is just a delusion and copium.

The community changed.
the last 3 month, because i was bored, i did 5 alt. 3 that got past SB and 2 past HW on the two EU DC.... And, seriously, until DT release i rarely saw what i listed in the post above.

And it has nothing to do with WoW exodus, and i never implied it. But the change in the community behavior is real.
