You can still command without waymark macros or playing follow the leader. Vast majority outside premades do.

Not effectively. How do you propose effectively coordinating a burst without a marker on the burst target? How do you propose leading the group safely out of a pinch without a waymark to follow? How do you grab the attention of those who are split too far out without chat sound effects?

Without anything for people to gather around, all you're doing is putting a suggestion in chat that most people will just end up ignoring and doing their own thing.
