You are uninformed and thats fine, FFXIV is their most profitable game, not only in the MMO Division thoughOkay let me rephrase the issue with what you said.
You said the game is SE's money horse. This is true, in their MMO division at least.
You then said, "so "This is not a game meant to drop content every month" falls apart in itself".
I am wondering why that falls apart, because the game has never dropped content every month, and yet it became SE's money horse despite that. I would think that would imply the problem lies elsewhere. Perhaps in the quality of the content itself.
I also said that because people are finally waking up that even though they have passion for the game like I do, its not a good game anymore
The fact that it's SE's most profitable game makes what you said even more nonsensical. The game has never had monthly content drops and it became successful so that's evidence it doesn't need to drop content every month. Are you implying that the game isn't "good anymore" because it's... not doing something it never did in the first place? Then it was always a bad game.
It is about longevity and replay value. As long as you had certain types of content, you didn't *need* additional content drops as often. Consider that chess hasn't had any new squares added to the board or new pieces with new moves in a hundred years, and it is still widely played?
There was a time when FFXIV had more content with longevity in its lineup, which is why people could keep playing through the months between patches doing various things without getting bored. Now, we have gone through a time where most of what has been coming out has been one-and-done's and raids that pretty much die in weeks set against a replenishment rate of months, and the last content with longevity has been long enough ago that even that has by now come to the point where people are done with that.
That is why the game that was able to become their most profitable product, now feels so much worse and is losing players.

FF11 is a pretty fun game if you can get past the slower more menu based combat and having to traverse the world slowly on first playthrough before unlocking homepoints and book warps. I feel each job in ff11 has its own uniqueness and has there own pro's and con's when using certain jobs for content and they all don't play or feel the same.I’m in the same boat.
My static died, my friends don’t log in anymore since DT (since post EW some even) and I am the only one.
I actually keep thinking about trying out FFXI because the raid lit up my interest but I don’t know where to start or how good it is for a new player nowadays.
That is when the true Vana'diel of legend will be reborn.
Ironically I’d say XI is pretty much the polar opposite of XIV in every respect and that’s one of the strongest things about the game lol. It feels like an actual ‘ff rpg’ and not ‘action game with ff flavour’FF11 is a pretty fun game if you can get past the slower more menu based combat and having to traverse the world slowly on first playthrough before unlocking homepoints and book warps. IDK when the last time you played FFXI was but the combat is a lot faster these days. Once you macro all of your abilities and get decent TP gear that allows you to spam weaponskills, there's very little downtime in combat. You can use unity warps to fast travel to a lot of places for the first time too.FF11 is a pretty fun game if you can get past the slower more menu based combat and having to traverse the world slowly on first playthrough before unlocking homepoints and book warps. Yeah, that's just false. As much as FFXIV always planned to not force you to do a lot of things you don't want to run to enter the thing you'd want to run, it always found a balance between not forcing you to stay yet giving you retention content if you wanted to stay, since ARR.People really misunderstand that quote. This is not a game meant to drop content every month. There's a reason why stuff only comes out 4 months at a time and tbh they could take even longer if they wanted to. When you are tired of playing this game, yes, it is probably wiser to go and do something else in your life. This game is really not meant to "no life" it, and yet we see people with complaint after complaint about the lack of content. They just don't want to do that. That's what the decision is. So you can continue complaining or literally use your time for something else. The devs don't want people to play until the point of becoming frustratingly exhausted. If you are not having fun, nobody is going to hate on you for leaving. That's the point of them saying that.
Relics existed in ARR,
Relics and Diadem existed in HW,
Eureka (linked to the relics) existed in SB,
Bozja/Zadnor existed during ShB.
This whole "FFXIV is not meant to be always played" is just false when you look at the game. It's a made up excuse by the game apologist that don't want to look at the problem the game has : the total absence of shelf life of the content released since EW.
This whole quote doesn't mean "we don't want to always play our game" : They do want that. The housing timer, the weekly lock of rewards and tomestones, and other things like that are mechanism done exactly for that. What it means is that "if you really need or want to take a break, go for it, you won't be too overwhelmed when you come back". It's a balance they achieved in the past, but don't anymore.
So stop spreading that lie that "FFXIV is made with the idea you'll regulary make break". The litteral content of the game prove you it's not true. You don't design the content I mentionned for a game where you don't hope people will stay subbed permanently. You don't make an mmo if you don't want people to pay every month. That line is supposed to say "it's easy to come back after a leave" and "we respect the fact you might not want to spend too much time ingame, but that's still a possibility if you want to" (the last part being the problem right now), not "we want you to take break" : it would be totally moronic from a marketing stand point.

FF11 is faster then it use to be but it still slow compared to modern games. Even if you use unity warps you still have to find your way to a zones homepoint/survival book to allow you to unlock permanent teleportation there and surrounding zones.IDK when the last time you played FFXI was but the combat is a lot faster these days. That's what I like about ff11 it still feels like an mmo and a oldschool rpg with rpg elements.

Definitely agree. I feel like FFXI done a perfect job of creating an MMO that still felt faithful to the ‘traditional’ FF style. The result was weird to say the least, but I feel like that uniqueness was part of what made it so charming.
I feel like XIV has lost a lot of what made it ‘charming’ in favour of being more ‘visually appealing’. Like, it’s more about creating some bizarre kind of ‘cinematic mmo experience’ that’s entirely centered around aesthetics and graphical presentation, and not ‘making an FF game but it’s MMO form’ lol.
