The main reason most of this games content is "room with boss" with a very certain difficulty is because those things are cheap to make compared to others. Meaning, even if we were to cut Savage Raid Content off, midcore/casual players may not have a gain from that because that freed developer budget is comparatively low.
(And, as someone who quit Savage in 6.0, I think the cadence of Savage Level fights in this game is at least okay. Certainly better than other avenues.)

Still, the things you propose are not exactly gameplay content, and a variety of that is definitely lacking in FFXIV first and foremost. What this game needs is an increase in developer amount, time and budget for new, unorganized, drop-in group battle content. We spent 100 Levels unlocking skills, let people use them.

(It's still unbelievable that we did not get a Field Operations instance in 6.x because that budget went into Island Sanctuary. Why does FFXIV even have such a limited budget when its clearly carrying the company?)

ETA: As for the question, no, I don't think players should be okay with Square Enix cutting content. It should be an "and", not an "or".

Regardless of what they make, it costs them money (wages) to make them. The reason for the lack of trash pulls is because trash is a waste of time (see coils, alex normal raids, dungeon trash and even most alliance raid trash).

Now if we do take a lot of other content, it actually does have a lot of depth despite being a sequence of corridors and rooms. If you look in the distance to see the detail put in dungeons or alliance raids, it's often enough that it could be a whole sort of explorable area like Eureka... they just restrict the movement to a linear path on purpose.

Almost the only reason I can think that we still have trash corridors in dungeons is for storytelling (so it "feels" like we travel through somewhere) and because a dungeon virtually always precedes a trial, so it's alright for the trial and its subsequent harder versions to just be a room. When we need a corridor for raids, they are now part of solo duties or instance areas (we go through one for Omega, we have a special area we visit for Eden and Pandaemonium). We have them in variant dungeons so they can do all the puzzles.

But when they really want to make something more than a room, it doesn't seem like they actually hesitate. We get a new GATE each expansion, new PvP maps, the fall guys collab and sometimes a special area like the Doman Enclave and Terncliff.

They just convinced themselves that the real meat players care about is the boss and everything else is a waste of both their and players' time.

Dude, way to put what I wrote out of context by only reading/quoting a bit of it. Please consider the entire post, I don't want to post the "you - the point" image again.

The actual parts you should have quoted in its entirely is:

My message was, in tl;dr Format: "if SqEx stopped making raids, the freed resources would most likely not result in much other content due to how production value works".

    Edited to Add:

yeah, I would agree with that sentiment, and your overall analysis is correct with how they seem to perceive things. Its a shame because a lot of the atmosphere got lost with the modernized version of how things work in this game.

The first part about it being cheap just really stuck out to me compared to other replies. I do agree that cutting high-end duties wouldn't necessarily result in other improvements. If it's just a fight in a room that is easier, then it could be the same people but except they are making an easier fight, but if it's making new user interfaces and systems like we got with Island Sanctuary, Field Operations and Deep Dungeons, or story quests or job changes, then it's more than likely going to be totally different people.
