One person once incorrectly called Wuk Lamat a shonen protagonist and a lot of people with poor media literacy latched onto it as if it was the best thing ever. It's very funny.

Oh she definitely is. Dynamis made sure that everyone is, which is why I hate it too. Its just a crutch for their lazy writing team to go "oh she/he believed enough and yelled "Yaaaaaa" hard enough, so now they can beat their opponent."
Cue Wuk Lamat being weaker than Bakool Ja Ja to suddenly powering up to beat him and multiple minions.
Basically, this game haven't evolved in anything but except we are getting less and less content per patch, boring jobs and new people can't die to mobs o normal content unless everyone goes AFK.
Same old mechanics from 10 years ago etc, if you put a new player in HS and move it directly in to DT they won't notice any difference.

Honestly my biggest gripe is that they are playing to too safe and just slapping recycled content left and right. Their passion for this project is long gone and it shows. I cannot blame them since 11+years is a long time but they should at least pretend to care about it or just quit and move to the next game at this point...
I would have been fine with DT if it was like a light hearted adventure with a new easy going cast, some scion cameos sprinkled here and there and a little hint of the new big baddie. New things to explore, new fresh mechanics and focus on overworld but most importantly what makes a final fantasy to me --> a fantastic adventure in a magical world full of exciting areas, battles and interesting party to accompany you. Honestly something simple like the recent DQ3 remake would have satisfied my expectations - simple, JRPG style and lighthearted fun after the oppressive Shadowbringer/Endwalker eras...
Instead we just vanquished a continent razing threat 1 level after it appared like??? and then a filler episode with lame characters only to be thrown away 2 levels after then throwing us to a completely different edgy direction out of nowhere... The pacing got so whacky after the first 2 zones...

I asked a friend to count how many times the quest objective was Speak to wuk lamat as they had not done the story
By the 83 trial the count tallies up to 58

One of my favorite parts of Dawntrail (I'm replaying the story) is getting to the Backrooms and realizing it's like a call back to the Rising Stones. They even mention it how it brings back memories. A hideaway behind a drinking establishment. Idk Dawntrail seems like Stormblood to me with some ARR vibes, which I also loved the story of, yet people were very polarizing on it especially with the Lyse scenes. People here saying they skipped cutscenes and the entire story, then question where the direction of the story is going? Yeah you skipped it. That's why you don't know.

I'm not defending the quest design, I just think it's unfair to pin it entirely on Dawntrail when it's more or less been this way
When you boil a quest down to:
- Talk to 3 or so NPCs
- Go here and kill something
- Go here and gather items
- Mount up and use its specific mount action
then all of the quests are going to be very similar to one another
I think one of the big things ARR had that the new quests don't is quantity
Because you only got 10 points per quest, you had unlocked more to do and more NPCs to talk to to get quests from
This is something they could do more of, maybe reduce the amount earned per quest but I feel as though people would complain with it being tedious
Looking back through the Amalj'aa quests, I did notice some differences but they are pretty minimal. For example, one quest has you kill wolves to get a key to open cages
That and the fact that originally you didn't have flying, so you had to ride your mount from place to place which took longer
All of this to say nothing of the story either, which I know many take issue with because it's a lot more peaceful now
I do think they could make overworld enemies hit a lot harder than they do, because we pretty much blast through them and it can be boring when you don't get to use a lot of your kit

What heart? It hasn't changed
Dei...really? Were you hoping for cheap robes and pointed hats? Lol, thugs robbing a CVS in NYC. I just can't right now.
