My guess with the hat issue is that they need to essentially make two versions of each hairstyle, the standard one and the modified version for hats.

This is true for every race, however, and not really a valid excuse since they do it for everyone anyway.

I would prefer for them to no longer release any new hairstyles until they complete all the compressed hairstyles for the viera/hrothgar default hairs if that's what it takes to get hats.

An extremely nuclear approach that will never happen, but I wouldn't mind. Hell, I'd turn everyone else's hats off, and force them to have 10 hairs only, so they know how bad this feels.

It will be repackaged and sold as ‘new feature’ for later patches/expansions. Please look forward to it. /s

Just hire more people for a few months to fix it? Contractors are a thing. I ran the numbers, if you take the sub time of around 10k players (out of the MILLIONS this playerbase has) at 13$ a month, it more than covers the salary of a small 10 person team to work on viera/hrothgar hats for a couple of months. So LOSE ONE MONTH OF REVENUE ON 10k PLAYERS FOR A MONTH OR TWO to cover the cost of fixing an entire thing longterm. There's no reason NOT to do it, not even from a business perspective.
But SE is too busy funneling all the money XIV makes back into their NFTslop projects and whatnot.

More pressing issues such as? Because I don't know what else is there to "fix" by the 3d artist teams. If you're talking about content or MSQ, that's on another team altogether.

There are rumours around that someone out there already modified ALL hats for viera and hroth during Endwalker, and released an update for dawntrail stuff within 1 week after release.
Which by the way: it's honestly incredibly incompetent that as a developer you add new headgear for a new expansion that can't be worn by 25% of players (8 races, 2 of which can't wear the hats), for races that have been around for 5 goddamn years already by the time you release that expansion. It's mind-boggling how *stupid* it is.

And this person even customized the models so they would not clip as badly. Yes, also for pre-ShB stuff. All of the hats, every single one.

... just pay that modder like a couple thousand for the models, yoink it and implement the things, employ that person or something as a freelancer or contractor for any future patches because *clearly* Yoshi P's team is incredibly incompetent and uncaring when it comes to this particular subject, so then fine, but let someone else do it who DOES care.

I know of those rumors, but it's not the same, when only people breaking ToS can wear hats... I want them vanilla, so I can wear them, y'know?

We're not 25% of players, we're not even 5% of players. Saying that 25% of players plays Hrothgar or Viera is a huge misconception.
