To make it worse, it's not going to relieve anything button-wise, because the community will try to fit something else in its place, and looking at discussions taking place, there's talk of using backflip and Piercing Talon, or double Mirage dive in the opener. I want Nastrond back, it was easier!
I said this elsewhere but it bears repeating. While I normally play tank, I started with DRG and always came back to it. Now I don't even want to look at the job. It's a boring husk because they've stripped away everything that made the job feel unique. I just don't understand their obsession with making every job appeal to everyone. The whole point of having 21+ jobs all on a single character is variety. If you don't like how Dragoon plays, PLAY SOMETHING ELSE. It's just depressing that a job I loved feels like crap now because little Timmy cried and moaned the weaving was just too hard.
But I can't even say I'm surprised. From Shadowbringers onward, this dev team has practically tripped over themselves to dumb everything down. Heck, even FFXVI is guilty of being extremely easy all because "gamers want instant gratification!" That may not be entirely wrong but it certainly doesn't feel good.

Mao thinkings this all the end result of Devs pushing harder and harder towards DDR fights. When fights become nothing buts DDR, all whats required is memorize dance steps and be mobile so can lob generics DPS at boss while constantly runnings. To make this possible, Devs dumbings down jobs so players can play what is becomings arcade-style combats-DDR. Is look nothings like traditional fantasy role playing game anymores. Is two-dimensional fights and two-dimensional jobs. When Mao first signed ups for FFXIV, Mao was not expectings game to become this. Mao gonna respectfully say...NOPES!
The insistence to make everything completely braindead makes me just not want to play anymore.
I will see yall in 8.0 so we can complain together about how disappointing the combat changes are.
