Is it time to Sunset FFXIV?

This reminds me of a lot of WOW players screaming for WOW 2. But if the devs of said "WOW 2" would be same, as previous one... would it be trully better?

I mean technically FFXIV is already their second MMO or "WoW2" and it's vastly different and no where near the same as the first since they just went in completely different directions. The first was too hard (for some, for most is was amazing), the second is too soft, maybe the third could be just right. In fact the only reason we got our "WoW2" is because FFXI is so embedded in playonline they couldn't update it graphically ot give us a new UI and what not. They debated but decided they literally needed to start from scratch. More of the same though it is not. In fact in as many ways as XIV was an upgrade it was also a downgrade.

That being said I don't think we are at the point that needs to happen....yet. And SE in 2024 is not the same as SE in 2001. I just don't think they got it in them anymore since they can't even get their single player FF games, or really any games looking at their track recond lately, right these days.

That would mean replacing Yoshida and the rest of the lead, you know that? You haven't disproven anything I said.
If current leadership would want to change the game, they can. They don't need to make new MMO.

I feel like the game (Devs, writers, etc..) has painted itself into a corner. Maybe it's time to focus on the next MMO and start over. This one isn't fun anymore and I don't know how we can recover from it. They whole formula that it was built upon is stagnant. The game shouldn't drop to a lull in things to do and play time just in a few months after the release of a major expansion.. the brand is suffering.

calling for ffxiv to terminate service after only this 1 bad expansion is honestly weak. I personally would not be happy with 14s service terminating, and i know many others wouldn't either. i think if your unhappy with the game, release yourself from it and find something you do enjoy.

With Yoshida having the sotory of 10.0 ready and wanting to have 20 more years of FFXIV, i can say the sunset thing is not going to happen. Lets just hope the game gets better.

In game design you don't always hit the mark, the community is split on how the story went, characters, etc. However, The devs for FFXIV have been good to the community over the years, with support and content. THe game will be fine, we will have those who will rage and fume in the moment but they will cool down.

I still like Dawntrail and FFXIV, the game still good, we are only in the first few months of it and it is way too early IMO to call the expansion to be bad untill all the content is out.

Taken about a month off the game and having a blast playing other games.. even ESO, janky as it is, always has something that at least feels meaningful to keep you busy.

Looking at 7.1 and onward... more content drought ahead. There isn't enough there to do...

ESO is even worse with content drought than XIV. They literally cut content in HALF, spending entire quarters that used to have content as "bug fixes." They removed content that used to come with expansions and are now selling it in another quarter for money.

ESO has a lot of issues and a player exodus. Unless you just drop in once in a while, it absolutely feels stagnant and there are a lot of people realizing this right now.

Also, if the game is so congested, why is there a free log in campaign? That smells of low log in numbers.

Funny enough, both WoW and FF14 have about the same active daily player base. Perhaps WoW should follow your advice as well.

Yeah. I wont argue that it doesnt have issies. But at least in ESO I see people actually playing the game. As bad as it is, if feels *better* and more alive. Which is just awful for 14..
