Under the circumstances in FFXIV right now, instances are more challenging. Because as I, and many others have said there are practically no challenging open world events right now. Please, for you sake, don't use the current open world NM's as examples.

But the open world aspect of this game is absolute not on a satisfactory level.

Not to mention.. Anyone can come attack the open world NMs. ._. I hate the current system.. It totally ruined NMs for me. I LOVED hunting NMs in XI.

My NM experience in this game:
A friend and I went to hunt some NMs that had some gear we both wanted..
We claim a NM which was a bit of a challenge at our levels at the time.. we were enjoying the fight, and then a group of level 50s who were impatient came along and killed it without asking if we wanted help. ._.
Then they claimed it a few times.
We finally got it again, and they stole the fun of any challenge and defeating the monster ourselves, by killing OUR claim again and again. Even after they were asked not to. >.>

Besides NMs, Any open-world dungeons will be made into instanced... So I really wonder... What challenging open world content will we have left? There's not anything that I can think of. Unless they make it so people can't kill your claims and they add more NMs. :\

If there ends up being no fun/challenging open world content in this game then I'll just lose interest in it fast. I need a balance of open-world and instance, like FFXI.

I miss the FFXI NM hunting too ; ; It was fun to get claim then have a buncha people standing around waiting for you to wipe..only for you not to wipe AND get the drop haha But idk everything feels so easy mode in ffxiv. Hopefully in 2.0 they will have a somewhat similar system with challenging NM and fix the weird claim system.

While I am sad that hamlet defense is instanced I understand the current servers/code sucks and it might not be possible in 1.x.

However, I would like to know if there are plans for plentiful open-world content (alongside instanced) in 2.0.

I can deal with content finder for instant raid deal, fine, I CAN DEAL with it. I can't deal with making a leveling up party with people on other worlds.... seriously?

Technically, if technology easily allowed it, most MMORPGs wouldn't have had distinct servers/worlds at all.

So Call of Duty is an MMO now? There's like 30 million people online, and you can play with any one of them by using the game's content finder to find which instance theyre in and join. It really puts the Massively Multiplayer back into Call of Duty. Who knew?
