But Yoshida said that I should unsub/uninstall the game and comeback a year or two to catch up "lots of content " that of course aren't going to be msq+dungeons+trials+1-2 raidsSo recently Yoshida had an spot at Melbourne International games week and mentioned they're making content that will take time to complete, and to please "please not retire guys", here's the link if anyone is even interested at this point.

I'd be happy with them just releasing Bozja/eureka content with the expansion and just updating it every month with a new map and raids lol.
Honestly, I'm incredibly skeptical. However, the only saving grace right now fully relies on the Echoes of Vanadiel FFXI Alliance raid. I might enjoy the story of it, but it's not gonna last me more than a couple minutes. If the alliance raid gear isnt even FFXI related (and is some crap "rendition that draws inspiration" gobshite, I don't plan on keeping my sub (and will probably just let my house go). I'm not dealing with the Monster Hunter collab bullshit a second time (still pissed about the copout of Yoshida and MH gear). So far--XI has more content to do than XIV right now, and I have 0 reason to even play xiv and log in at this point. I do still login and play XI since I'm grinding my corsairs weapons out (and assaults lol). Otherwise all my time is going to W40K Space Marine 2 and those grinds.

Its pathetic how he goes from "take break from the game" to "do not retire please", the damage is already done and we know very well that you guys (yoship and the devs) will not change a danm thing because you do not care at all about the hapiness of your players.
i'm fucking done of this game, it is way too boring and everytime i love something they destroy it next patchs, ffs.
first major content patch is the anniversary event starting on October 22nd ???It isn't even just F2P games at this point as Raven2014 pointed out. I started playing WoW very casually due to a friend being curious about it. Just to compare timelines here:
Dawntrail released ( Early Access June 28th) July 2nd and the first major content update in Early November.
WoW: The War Within released ( Early Access August 22nd) August 26th and the first major content patch is the anniversary event starting on October 22nd.
Now you can make a lot of complaints about WoW but the point here is they have nailed a far better content cadence and this only is addresseing retail. For your WoW sub you also have access to all the Classic servers as well along with any event mode they put up like Plunderstorm or Timerunning past expansions. I know Blizzard may be an unfair comparison as they do have a large team and now Microsoft's backing but they absolutely have nailed release schedule.
the next major content patch is the nest raid tier/m+ season
FF14 also can include gatcha char progression like "Do 15 times CT3 in order to gain 1 token and this token give you a 10% chance to upgrade your tome weapon from i720 to i722" but I dont think that actually real content^This.
I am playing 2 F2P games currently and spend around 20 - €30 a month on them combined. For what it's worth, they offer me a better value per money spent than FFXIV. I can log in for 30*min - 1h daily, make some progress and move on.
Truth be told, I got caught off guard and spent far too much money on one than I'm comfortable with, but that's the stupid tax. Learned my lesson after that.
Compared to 14, where I don't have any meaningful long-term progression for my character, so I log in maybe once every two weeks check on my retainers and log out.
Once again it’s hilarious how badly people miss the point
This isn’t about putting gacha mechanics in 14, it’s about gacha games which have larger swings in their revenue can somehow commit to more consistent content schedules with more content than 14
As a healer main in this game for nigh on 14 years all I can say is that I’m tired. My role has been eroded of complexity and expression for 3 expansions. I’ve watched the tanks do my role for me for 2 expansions and my feedback and critiques continue to fall on deaf ears.
I have no idea who modern healers are designed for but I know now it’s not me. This is the first expansion I’m truly considering dropping the healer role and not returning, so if that was the goal- congratulations I guess
The problem is that we pay 15 bucks per month for a product that is half assed. These gacha games do the same formular also for years and years on end like ff 14 has but they can put out decent and fun content on a way faster schedule then ff14 does. Plus a number of content they release is actually pretty good quality like voice a ting for example. Like people said they have a cash cow that they should feed and grow so it craps out even more money but they rather led it starve atm
