In Guild Wars 1 you could only leave town with your party. And you could use NPCs to fill in for your party. So you didn't even need to use content finder!

Like, get with the times S.E.!

Open world and interacting with actual people is so last decade. It's all about instances and NPCs now. Real people are like totally obsolete.

I also agree with you star, I really wish these forums were never made.
However, seeing the 2.0 PDF's, Artwork, Planned content into the game

I feel 2.0 is SE's game, Version 1.xx is the Players game ( and 40% SE's game), they are just putting whatever the players want into FFXIV 1.0 to satisfy them till 2.0. As they said before most of the stuff in FFXIV 1.0 is being Scrapped.. so why not give the players what they want for the time being.

I do agree, unfortunately SE is trying to guide this game to the a purely instanced content grinder. I have made it apparent that we as a playerbase want more than just instances. The Rep's said they the dev team will be looking at what I posted, so who knows? Maybe we might see more than just an instanced piece of garbage.
I was unaware that 159 qualified as "several hundred." Approximately 1% of the population is clearly "the playerbase" though, right?

This is why most people get agitated. No one is saying "no open content at all evar." But people like you troll along and immediately call instances "garbage" months before 2.0 is out and insist they'll be the death of the game.

Like I said in your thread, I do want HNMs and open world events. I want Hamlet Defense in 2.0 to be more like campaign. I, just like that 80% from the second players poll, just don't want to deal with the claim wars again.

But what Hamlet Defense currently is is a symptom of the current server and engine design. If they didn't put it in an instance there's be a flood of posts with people complaining they're getting killed by or NPCs and objects are being wiped by mobs no one can see.

Don't do a claim war then avoid it, let the people who do like that stuff have it

Also if you think it's all server related idk, i think its just lazyness. 30+ people as someone said befor did end bosses for strong holds, that went just fine. I never had an issue with it.

So sad, instances are the future of FFXIV. You should probably quit now Rokien, you won't like it even in 2.0.

Find a game that does crazy open-world stuff, I hear Archeage has some pretty cool stuff like that. I mean you can even build huge boats out in the open world.

In all seriousness though, the devs are going to do what they feel best. It will be very rare that we change their mind on something, often as the result of a unanimous backlash. You should find a game that you like for what it is, there's so much you want to change about FFXIV that it doesn't seem like this game is one you will like in the end.

It won't be all Instanced, if you read the PDF's you'll see there's quite a number of non-Instanced content, balanced with Instanced content... E3 will answer alot of our problems and concerns I'm sure

Not really? I pretty much stated that I personally won't be using it if it stays the same. I'm not saying abolish it completely. The context Rokien is putting it through is just the typical HOLY SHIT THE GAME IS BEING RUINED hyperbole that he's known for.

I doubt anyone is going to be shouting for a hamlet defense. If anything they'll be shouting near the hamlet. But at least that's more productive than half of the jibberish spouted in /shout already.

FFXIV Forums come along.. People Opinions becomes the games reality.. and not what they want to create.. if you wanna know who is destroying the game ( for those that think the game is going down the tubes anyways) is the player base on the forums.

That's just me though, I just feel like its the players game not SE's game.. :/.
I dunno Star, aesthetics, minor balance and UI changes are really the only thing heavily player influenced, all the content was SE's Ideas and most of it was planned pre-forums. I guess you can argue that instancing was player influenced but to be honest with the way the server structure is and the amounts of lag in crowded areas I dont think SE had a choice really.

Also maybe jobs where player pushed but I dont think anyone can argue it wasn't a good idea.

That's what's so funny though, is you have the games like ArcheAge and Guild Wars 2 which are "all the rage" at the moment. And there isn't so much emphasis on instances in those games. It's more about the open world and, on one hand, dynamic events, and on the other being able to effect the world.

And Yoshi was brought into change FFXIV into a "next gen" game but looked at the wrong Guild Wars for inspiration. He looked at Guild Wars 1 by mistake.
