extreme mount, new minion, dungeon glamour, fate mount, that not enough for casual player ? I didnt even buy the game until 1 week before savage update, trust me when i tell you the casual have more thing to do than raider.
All those are more like tasks, they're not actually super engaging content at all. They're what most people do to pass some time and probably watch TV while doing it.
And what I men by super engaging is not that I need some raid tier level combat, but I do want to feel interested in what I'm doing.
Tell me one thing that is in Dawntrail specifically that keeps you engaged that isn't the raids or dungeons.
Treasure Maps, that's it. And arguably even those are kinda TV worthy, but atleast there's fun in those.
Crafting, questing, sightseeing log are nice to do too. Raids and dungeons I find quite fun to do for leveling and some weekly fun with friends. All those are more like tasks, they're not actually super engaging content at all. Fully agreed. It has a net positive rating on Metacritic (6.3), which is still better than the user score for Dragonflight. And more people have a positive review of Dawntrail on Steam than they did with 1.0. So we've come a long way in 10 years.
This is correct. FFXIV was never meant to be someone's "main game" like WoW. It was always intended to be a side game that you played off and on once a year or so. Most players don't subscribe year-round, and Yoshida fully endorses that. I only wish the unsubscribe button was in-game so it would be easier to play the game as intended.Your complaints are something that comes up regularly since at least the end of Heavensward. Yoshida& the team talked about it a few times, but the reason the game is so formulaic is because it allows for people to come in and come out of the game whenever they feel like it and know what they go into when they come back, basically.
This is also correct. We wanted you to come to FFXIV during Shadowlands because we needed to fight Blizzard amid their sexism scandals. But, come on. It's Final Fantasy XIV. It's like being burnt out of playing Cookie Clicker. Who does that? Yoshida respects your time and wants you to go play other games. The only way to win in Final Fantasy XIV is not to play.also you played 6000 hours in the last 4-5 years. Burning out of it is kinda natural.
Yep, this is the way. Final Fantasy XIV is a great game for playing once every two years on a single weekend, not as something you stay subscribed to. It's not WoW and we all agree that it should never be treated like it.If that is what you truly want, you could try unsubscribing for 2 years, then return at the tail-end of the expansion when all of the patches have been released. Then there will not only be the base expansion content, but also all of its patches (aka bells and whistles), available to you.

When it used to be fun you and then it's not anymore.
Maybe it's time to let go and move on. Or perhaps take a break, consolidate content before coming back. It is okay to quit or take a break.
They're not going to change the formula that works and brings them money. It works for the majority but it will never be for everyone.
Hear me out, i know its quiet the stretch, but. If Kate really did help Sena get hired. She'll be the sole person for the down fall of FF14.
They're not going to stop updating XIV this way unless the game starts bleeding money.
Their MMORPG-for-busy-dads approach is applied even to their offline games (XVI). Yoshi-P really likes this kind of design philosophy and update cycle.
Alright let's see:
ShB: introduced the Crystarium crafter/gatherer quests. Introduced bisexual-color gemstones. IDK what people did before SHB with FATEs and whatnot. Introduced Bozja. While it's a similar timed open field instance like Eureka, it has different mechanics, different story, and its own raids. Begin adding Trusts and Duty Support. I believe they also begun going back to older content to rework it in some cases. Introduced New Game+. Introduced Ishgardian Restoration and FETEs. Trial Synthesis feature was added. Dungeon Explorer Mode was added.
EW: Introduced Island Sanctuary. Reworked the earlier MSQ to be more newbie friendly. Reworked housing lottery. Adventurer Plates. Reworked PvP entirely and it's more popular now than it was before. Added 3 whole Criterion Dungeons (which, for the record, 1 of these is like 12 dungeon paths and boss variants). Added new stuff to Golden Saucer. Fall Guys collab event was pretty in-depth, speaking of Gold Saucer. Compatibility with Xbox. Added a new deep dungeon which, while it uses the same style as POTD and HOH, is still definitely its own beast as well. Added extra glam plates and more glam dresser slots.
Dawntrail: Continue expanding all of the above features, and add in some more stuff as well. Already confirmed more criterion, and another eureka/bozja-like instance. Also adding in a whole new Beastmaster job, which I think/hope will also come with a pokemon-like pvp fight mechanic where two Beastmasters pit their pets against each other.
Yeah... I think you're wrong OP. I think the devs are adding in new content and new features all the time. All while you continue having a backlog of older content still to do.
You're just not engaging with it. Which is fine, maybe the new stuff isn't for you or the QOL features are not noticeable for you since you don't need any of it, and it's okay to say that. But in that case I'd say be more constructive with "this is what I want to see/do", and not come with this "omg game is dead, no new features", which is hyperbole and just plain false.
