6.1-7.0 have been an overall downgrade in voice direction and of course that's going to hurt the character with the most lines the most.

Any examples of questionable voice direction in the Endwalker patch quests (besides Wuk)? I didn't see any noticeable decline in that department at least, most of the scions sounded consistent in their performance and the new voice actors were good in my opinion; Golbez's VA in particular did good and fit the character well and I didn't notice any problems with the rest of the new English cast there.

You can see why we meme that Wuk Lamat "screams in lowercase" in the english version when it comes to some of her lines.

All of which were male characters, at least the ones I could find credits or examples for. After listening to Wuk in english for most of the expansion, clearly the VA does not have the range needed to convincingly perform a female role. I don't care who or what the VA is for any given role, but if you're incapable of performing it to the standard it deserves, just don't take the role. Sena is clearly incapable and he should not have taken this role.

This isn't to excuse poor performances or clear struggling with the role, but I think it's quite reductive to chalk everything up to Square Enix arbitrarily 'ticking a checkbox' when the issues with the game go far, far beyond Sena and it's patently unfair to lay all our hangups at her feet. Wuk Lamat and the DT story is divisive in all languages.

You're right that the issues with the character's writing are not Sena's fault, but there's clearly something suspect about the hiring for the english cast regardless. Look into the new localization lead, her previous effects on this game's localization(Shadowbringers pixie pronouns), and her relationship with Wuk's VA. If that doesn't scream nepo hire then I don't know what does. They're two separate issues, but both are issues nonetheless.

NGL, that duty made me put down my controller and leave the room for a bit, shaking my head, while the NPCs did their thing. I know Square Enix is afraid of letting the player lose, but that was just obscene. Situations like that should be reserved for when the player choses the "very easy" difficulty after failing.

Woke up to a lovely tweet from Wuk Lamat's VA insinuating that disliking Smile could be because you're a racist.

People already don't like the character and have issues with the performance, yet people like me were willing to defend the person for doing her job as best as she was able and believing that any directional or casting issues should be laid at the feet of the company, but now she's doubling down on these implications that Dawntrail is only receiving mixed reception because fans are intolerant and don't like Black Gospel, South American culture, or Trans VAs.

I'm sure there's a certain subsection of the fandom that do believe this, and I believe her when she says she's been getting harassed due to the presence of grifters like Grummz getting involved. She should be allowed to vent her frustrations and discuss said harassment, but she's becoming a brand risk by attacking the average fan now - even if she believes that putting plausible deniability in her wording is clever.

I'm beginning to feel like the character has simply got to go. She's doing more damage in a couple months than every other VA has in the last decade combined. Lack of professionalism.

Yes death threats and harassment are absolutely uncalled for. That said, she's shown herself unfortunately to be a rather unpleasant person. And like you said, she's doing a lot of damage to player goodwill. I hope if SE has any future work planned they consider a change in VA. She's been very unprofessional.

I never thought i would miss the ARR instanced solo fights but here we are. Back in the days we had no fancy echo and some of them were impossible for certain jobs! xD
