Unironically, most publishers kind of just look at the scores given by journalists and pay no attention to user scores... Even when the journalists don't actually represent the consumers at all.
If they look at Metacritic, they'll see that they gave the game a 79 / 100 average... And completely ignore the 6.2 user score.

Seen some posts hating the RNG on the JP threads during EW, but I don't think anyone there really was asking for it to be removed as opposed to getting better tools to control it.
There were a number of comments happy about it when it was announced in the DT job adjustments PLL though, in both English and Japanese.
Which is amusing to me, considering how many of those reviews are just paid for anyway. Or "paid for" with trips and other "totally not bribing you" gifts. At least users are starting to realize that journalists are completely useless, and the user scores are more important. So if we can keep people from joining the game with warnings of "No, seriously, this sucks." then I'll count that as a win.Unironically, most publishers kind of just look at the scores given by journalists and pay no attention to user scores... The thing I don't understand is why has Square Enix let the situation with healers go on for so long that #FFXIVHEALERSTRIKE, in one form or another, was inevitable? Even if there is some cultural bias in Japan which sees healers in a different way, they have to have seen the sheer number of posts on the English forums expressing their unhappiness. Certainly, it wouldn't have have required much effort to say, "we know many of you are unhappy but we have a specific idea on what a healer should be." Instead, I feel like we, as customers, have been totally blown off.

Self healing inthe game makes healers redundant. Healer classes should be ditched, unless they are going to completely change damage patterns/mechanics and battle design.

You're right. Self-healing makes healers redundant. So, Square Enix needs to severely curtail it.
It's much more reasonable than removing four jobs from the game. We also know Square is unlikely to overhaul damage pattern/mechanics and battle design. That'll be like building a whole new MMO. The only way out of this mess is for them to nerf the self-sustain of tanks and damage dealers.
I suggest tanks and damage dealers have their self-sustain abilities as is when they aren't in duties/raids and nerfed when they are. This will enable tanks and damage dealers to do solo content yet require healers in the group content.
Yeah and it sucks. I don't want a PR stunt. I want things done which will make me want to play a healer again. Being told to wait three years for possible change isn't going to cut it.
