FF 14 right now is Squares Gold cow , so nope...theres no way that will happen in the near future. However, its really sad that our monthly subs goes into subpar games rather then into "our " game itself. The quality drops, an Expansion that most of the playerbase rejects...bare minimum in content and not a single inch more then what we can expect. 4 bosses for the next 6 months when it comes to raiding. But meeh...this forum is an echo chamber anyway. Just look into the dev tracker, english forums are ignored from even moderators.
If the playerbase leaves in droves Square probably goes bankrupt.

Maybe someday, but right now the game is bigger than ever, with more pre-orders for Dawntrail than any prior expansion and data centers being added due to congestion. It would be crazy to do that now. Maybe when it's at FF11's level.
The existing game engine has maxed out its capabilities
I really don't think so. They can change it easily. They have already added lots of features used by Unreal 5.
failing to implement the desired fixes, which leads to player dissatisfaction due to unfulfilled expectations.
That's just because they are slow honestly. I understand code and there are things it takes them ages to fix that I know would not actually take that long regardless of engine, yet they make it out to be some difficult thing.
A fresh game might resolve these issues and potentially cater to the overlooked demographics instead of the current primary audience.
That's actually the reason for casualization. They think younger gamers just pick up a game, they already have everything and don't need to earn it, so they just play the game. And that's why they've made a lot of stuff just there and easier to use as they are (ie. simpler jobs).
The developers have skillfully repackaged the same mechanics in various guises, making old mechanics seem novel. However, they are not new, and the facade is apparent.
Yoshi-P actually said something along the lines of if the game was too realistic, it would be harder to design fights. More resources required just to make a single mechanic and it may even constrain the design due to having to be more realistic. I don't really know, but it's probably something he's thought about more than me.

Acknowledging the massive effort required to develop a new game, as a consumer willing to invest, I am concerned about getting value for my money. Like many, I am ready to spend, but only if the product is genuinely worthwhile. The current game won't sustain another decade; it has been pushing its limits for years. What are your thoughts? Would a new FF MMO that delivers what we've been requesting be a wise move? I would certainly be excited to experience a new, updated FF MMO.
This is your first MMO isn't it? The game isn't perfect, but there is no reason they can't do something fresh within the same game.

I mean we dont even have the 7.1 patch so contentwise i dont think we are worse of then during Endwalker.
I also wouldnt say most reject the Story it at best its divisive. Outside of the Forums i occasionaly see people dislike the story but the Majority of people i spoke to liked it.
Which doesnt mean there cant be criticism but "laying it to rest" seems very silly as stance.
Especialy with the strong social and roleplaying population that is self sustaining (but got hurt by recent DT Center Travel changes)

Given that XIV swaps places with WoW back and forth for most played MMO, I have no idea how the OP could arrive at this conclusion.

I can't take brand new accounts serious for statign this, unless they somehow got removed by doign malicious content themself on some other account or the likes.

Sorry no credits for a person from 2024, that has barely touched the game at all.

If they made a new mmo with a much better game engine they most likely would just make it a ff14 2.0 and copy things from current ff14 to whatever new mmo they make and maybe add things to it they possibly can't do with current ff14.

I agree, the netcode in this game is trash, especially in PVP, you literally have to pre-heal before you even get attacked, so it can register your heal after you get attacked. There's plenty of videos of people getting hit through the walls at the Wolves den arena because the hit is literally registering on the other player after they are behind the wall, it's funny and abysmal at the same time.
