If they made a new mmo with a much better game engine they most likely would just make it a ff14 2.0 and copy things from current ff14 to whatever new mmo they make and maybe add things to it they possibly can't do with current ff14.

I agree, the netcode in this game is trash, especially in PVP, you literally have to pre-heal before you even get attacked, so it can register your heal after you get attacked. There's plenty of videos of people getting hit through the walls at the Wolves den arena because the hit is literally registering on the other player after they are behind the wall, it's funny and abysmal at the same time.
Don't expect a new MMO until they're finished milking this one
Desired changes? Player dissatisfaction? Unless the stats SE get show that and they address it somehow, I don't think we're anywhere there yet
I don't think they need to shut down FFXIV to work on a new MMO. After all, FFXI is still around.
I do think that DT has clearly shown that if not the engine then at least the code is too much of a mess to expect any real big changes or innovations to the game in the future. We hear that excuse constantly, like when talking about a proper wardrobe system. So if not a completely new MMO then they should at least make it a priority to finally get their spaghetti code fixed. Because it's really holding the game back and we can't go on for another decade like this.
Well 1.x was shut down to revamp it into 2.0 so i would say they would need to shut down ffxiv to fedo the engine. If not a total shutdown a complete content stop till new engine game is ready. You can be sure most players will have moved on if they do.
One thing I wish they would do is bring dragon quest 10 to the west instead of jumping through hoops to play it.

I wonder if something happened in June 2024 to make people so upset they had to create an account on the forums to leave dissatisfied feedback.
