Hey now, don't trash Fairy Tail, at least Fairy Tail is enjoyable if you turn your brain off and don't think too critically about what's happening.
I'd compare it more to Boruto. Trash writing, too much filler, steps on established characters to prop up new ones, characters get unearned powerups to surpass characters with many many more years worth of experience in combat.
We're playing Wuk Lamat: FFXIV Next Generations
Now we just have to wait for our character to get sealed away and for every single piece of fodder to be stronger than Endsinger
Watching forum drama be like
My biggest problem with Dawntrail is how we rarely we get to have the scions chime in with their own thoughts, opinions and experiences. The Scions have soooo much to say and it just feels like they were all sidelined so we can have another "Speak with Wuk Lamat" moment where Wuk Lamat learns something about her people that she probably should have learned a few decades prior. (Either the scions should have been given more things to say, or should have been written out for an expansion or two).
This I completely agree with. And I'm going to say Zoraal Ja was undercooked, too. Honestly, it feels like the character arcs themselves were kind of lacking compared to the plot beats--but that's kind of a problem with a smaller, less epic story when characters are supposed to win over the day.Yeah this expansions has some of the worst pacing issues. They focused far to long on unimportant things like the Pelupelu trading "mini game". After the 3rd time it should have been enough. But they also focused far to little on important things. Like Bakool Ja Ja and his redemption being rushed.
I mean, even in Fairy Tail, the least interesting side characters still have a personality trait or two. Even when the focus of an episode is a side character, it's not like the main characters suddenly lose their entire personality and just become a cheerleader for that particular character, unlike what happened to our WoL with Wuk...Hey now, don't trash Fairy Tail, at least Fairy Tail is enjoyable if you turn your brain off and don't think too critically about what's happening.

I never did, I was responding to the other guy who used them as an analogy to compare ARR-EW to DT, to which I pointed out those listed anime are both the same quality so his analogy only supported my stance.
Perhaps, as indicated in this interaction, the problem isn't the writing, but your ability to read and understand it.
No you literally call the writing fineI never did, I was responding to the other guy who used them as an analogy to compare ARR-EW to DT, to which I pointed out those listed anime are both the same quality so his analogy only supported my stance.

You think DT's writing is fine when it is has the exact same issues in writing as those crappy shounen
The biggest irritant so far has been the new wave of Swifty-fans (going to dub them 'Wuklies') shouting at anyone who so much as voices dissent for an obnoxious two-dimensional character like Wuk Lamat. "You're not allowed to have an opinion" and "Your opinion is invalid", "You don't know what you're talking about; stfu" and "Yaaas Queen suh-laaaay". This particular expansion emboldened those folks while the story preaches about 'getting along', 'accepting different cultures' and 'peace and harmony and love' while granting forgiveness to a genocidal robot with the AI of a teenage girl and absolutely steam-rolling over a brother-in-law who was prepared to unify others without bloodshed if they surrendered and wanted to teach the futility of war as well as what being a powerful foe could lead to, courtesy-lesson taught by Daddums Dawnservant (double-edged). Zealots on either side of the spectrum need to chill; she was a poorly written character but none of these characters are going to care about what we say.
Forcing the WoL to cheerlead instead of actually mentor or even champion (as we were barely even needed with the exception of Valigarmanda, and all other instances Wut Lmao spearheaded by channeling her emotions) gave me the impression that the ones who wrote the base MSQ this time around did no homework, or rather, very little and didn't comb over their work to see if it was balanced. I didn't like Wut Lmao and this expansion was my worst so far, but I'm not going to bite someone's head off for voicing their love of it as long as they have no issue seeing me responding with "I preferred others". We all have our opinions, we can voice them, but be respectful and don't lose your head over it.

I love how all the scions do nothing or says anything relevant. They just "nods" and "Yush" while the best character ever made aka Wuk Lamat speaks for 240th time how much she loves peace.Did the devs go out of their way to make this so painful and unfun to play? I'm mainly talking about the MSQ here, I'm 94 and I've done one dungeon, and one solo event... the rest has been walking back and forth listening to NPCs that's it!
While FF14 has always been a lot of this (I've been here since 1.0 and love the game) but the story has alwasy been worth it; this time it's almost unbearable.
I wasn't expecting some epic thing, I knew after Endwalker we were slowing down a bit but I was just made to click a "destination" point 3 times to wait, this can't be what suffices as a MSQ quest.
I know some people are really enjoying the expansion and I in no way want to dampen their enthusiasm; for me though I feel really let down this time. It's not even burnout talking, while I've played since 1.0 I take regular breaks, I don't max out every job, I don't play 8 hours a day.
just feels kinda bad =(
WoL shouldn't even be there at this point most of the cutscenes my character isn't even on point camera and acts like a truly random NPC.
Also the maps, my god absolutely, terrible, tedious, empty, and nothing to interact with it even ARR zones are far better because at least you can enter buildings or houses.
DT MSQ it's a straight DOWNGRADE from ARR MSQ in every single aspect.
its sort of like playing through stormblood cept more annoying which i didnt think was possible
none of the scions except graha were written with even a slick of personality, theyre just there bc familiar.
