Dawntrail is so painful; is it on purpose?

Just because it's a new expansion that has to build stuff up, doesn't mean it can't be fun and exciting. The story had a major hook with the search for the Golden City. Like I have seen somebody else mention, this could have been the Indiana Jones expansion. No realm threatening danger, just the pursuit of adventure.

Instead they turned it into some sort of Sesame Street lesson of love, peace and understanding. A lesson that got repeated for way too many hours. My Little Pony seasons were more exciting.

Anyway, there was plenty of excitement, sci-fi invaders, interacting with the denizens of another shard, discovering what happened to the people of the South Sea Isles, PLENTY of excitement. You just didn't personally like the content.

So because its the start of a new story it should excuse poor writing and pacing? So they haven't learned from the last 10+ years of story telling? Come on man...

That's a strange thing to say considering the writing was fine. Maybe you're just following the bandwagon.

Let me compare this in Anime terms. If ARR to EW was One Piece, DT is Fairy Tail.

Well they are, 99% of shounen is pretty terribly written. One Piece is absolutely up there as schlock.

And thanks for letting me know who I am dealing with. I mean, I should have known the moment you tried to argue that a start of a new story has to be boring.

I never said it has to be "boring" precisely, I said that it can't be as action packed and climatic.

I'd compare it more to Boruto. Trash writing, too much filler, steps on established characters to prop up new ones, characters get unearned powerups to surpass characters with many many more years worth of experience in combat.

I mean, even in Fairy Tail, the least interesting side characters still have a personality trait or two. Even when the focus of an episode is a side character, it's not like the main characters suddenly lose their entire personality and just become a cheerleader for that particular character, unlike what happened to our WoL with Wuk...
