Why do you refuse to use that accessibility option? Wouldn't it solve the issue? The second fight was extremely unfun and very frustrating as a protanopic-colorblind player. The soft pinks and reds of the AoE dodgefest bit are awful to try and see- literally snowblind- but it compounds with the colors of the floor and the entirety of the room besides.
I refuse to use the accessibility option to tune to one encounter (although I know it's there.)
I'm sure it would definitely help, yeah. Just sucks that an official encounter isn't good for me on its own to work with. Also, having to use an accessibility option (not being forced, but having not too much recourse if I wanted to help myself) on its own sort of knocks at my pride/sensitivities. It's hard to word; also, this is just my own opinion when it comes to myself.
I don't know about protanopic-colorblindness, but as a deuter colorblind person the "color blind settings" in FFXIV are a joke. They don't actually help with clear readability and the distinction of AoE/mechanic markers amongst floor coloring and background noise. They shift the ENTIRE color spectrum for the whole game and it doesn't help the actual problem. So not only does the game now look like shit because every single color has now shifted in tone, (for the Deuteranopia settings the game now looks washed out, and all color vibrancy is gone) but the problem of certain mechanic markers having a tonal difference too close to the surrounding environment isn't fixed at all. If SE were smart they'd let you specifically customize the color of AoE circles, etc.
Honestly, it's like whoever created their "accessibility settings" doesn't actually understand what color blindness is.
