I don't know what healers really want.So I had a couple of questions revolving around the FFXIV Healer Strike thing I saw, what was it all about? What do healers really want?
I mean I mained SGE through EW and ended up really liking it but admittedly it is a unique healer from what I have seen, is there something wrong with the other healers I am missing?
Devs have made things complicated, with huge damage to recover asap, healer check, more dps abilities.
What I do want is shorter cooldown for some ability and more "spell speed".
I have 10,000 needles,
I'm not a weaver,
and I'm not scared to use them.
They really haven't, though. Outside of a few specific cases, the vast majority of content is still "Faceroll your 1 key until the obviously telegraphed AoE damage happens." And at that point, unless that obvious AoE damage is also tied to a mechanic, you just hit an oGDC, or maybe pop a Lily on WHM. And if it IS tied to a mechanic, it either does no extra damage if it's just a "stand in the safe spot", which requires no more healing than just the normal AoE, or a "prepare your swiftcast res" for someone who screwed it up, which still isn't any actual increased effort, because we've had 100 levels of people standing in things, and needing to be scraped off the floor.
And where are these DPS abilities? Cause I'm not seeing them. Are these DPS abilities in the room with us? Cause man, we're still packing less DPS abilities than we had in ARR, HW, or even SB.
Or maybe interesting gameplay? Less heal bloat? more then 3 attacks for 90+ levels?Eh I like playing healer just fine, and I've been healing since 2.0 and main healer every patches. Is there room for improvement? Sure. The strike ... well, idk how big that is, I can tell virtually I can see no impact in game in term of healer participation. I always said I wish the healer strike is real because it means I'll have more "Adventure in need", but I'm not seeing that.
If you want a two words summary: Green DPS. That's what they want.
I feel sorry for people just starting WHM/SCH/AST it has to be the dullest leveling experience ever.
How do you only get green dps from that? Must have on blinders or something. Does not matter if its the same awful dps, Also throw in a NEED to actually use that bloated healing tool kit. Even in savages we don't need that many heals. But its good to see your committed to only seeing your version of it.
Healing is more a challenge now than before DT.
Are you telling me you haven't seen a bunch of people on the healer strike said they want healer to have a proper DPS rotation as well? You know what other non-DPS role that have more than 3 damage button? Tanks. You know what they're something referred to as? Blue DPS.How do you only get green dps from that? Also why so defensive? Did I say Green DPS is bad? So why trying so hard to pretend that's not what you want? Unless you're subconsciously feel guilty about that? I wasn't talking to you, the OP asked what is the deal, and Green DPS is basically the git of it.
The problem is you are narrowing the many many problems of healers down to “they want green DPS” (which is something we want)Are you telling me you haven't seen a bunch of people on the healer strike said they want healer to have a proper DPS rotation as well? We also want our healing to be impactful, to not have an overpowered bloat of oGCD healing we don’t need (literally who asked for seraphism) and we want something to manage within our own kits
As a healer main in this game for nigh on 14 years all I can say is that I’m tired. My role has been eroded of complexity and expression for 3 expansions. I’ve watched the tanks do my role for me for 2 expansions and my feedback and critiques continue to fall on deaf ears.
I have no idea who modern healers are designed for but I know now it’s not me. This is the first expansion I’m truly considering dropping the healer role and not returning, so if that was the goal- congratulations I guess
Because that's not necessary an inherent problem to the healer, it's a fight design problem. The the reason our kit feels overpower because the fights often required less than what we have. Yoshi had said this is something they gonna fix this expansion, and admit they have been "too safe". So far it's 50/50.
EX1 feels about right and make it feel the whole kit is useful.
EX2 still go on for long stretch without any healing need unless people mess up, but then it felt more like a puzzle fight.
If savage play like EX1 on steroid, than I'll be glad that I have the entire kit.
