Oh, I completely agree, 100%. And it's not only the main character issue, there's a LOT of bad writing going on, all over the place. That's why it's so worrying that the game was released like that. Not only the main writers, but no one inside Square Enix could see it?! Something really bad must have happened during production.
+ why it's so disappointing that a lot of players can't seem to notice it or expect more, after playing through many expansions with far better writing than this.
