hi. I'm play ffxiv in global server and korea server. so might my english is bad. but please read this until the end. I really appreciate that. Thank you.

the femroe face 1 is quite improvement in DT than benchmark. but i still not satisfied about my character face.





as you can see. the face feature is quite different. and face emote make it worse.

here is the why is look so different





the differences

1. eyebrow
2. race tatoo
3. wrinkle of eyes
4. eyeliner's length
5. nose width
6. lip's thickness
7. mole's size

and I think the white eye's iris is more smaller than black one. but it just guessing

we still remain almost 8 month until DT in korea server. I came global server for see the 7.0 MSQ, but I'm quite worry about my WoL's change. I lived eorzea as this body over 380 days in playtime. she brought me joy 8 years. since I became adult in korea and started ffxiv. but now in DT I coudn't see her face directly, because my soul totally refuse that. and I cast every head glamour in monoa mask. I finished 7.0 MSQ with mask. but I really hope I could finish 7.0 MSQ without mask in korea server.

Thanks for leaving your feedback despite the language barrier. I can really see how much you love your character and I’m sorry she was changed.

I want to highlight this because there’s a point I want to make. Something that’s frustrating me is seeing so much hostility toward people sad about character changes from those who like the updated graphics. Take a look at this lovely edit above. This person has made just a few subtle changes and the face completely regains the spirit of the original character. More importantly, what those minor edits don’t do is make the character look lower quality or worse. The faces can be edited to preserve the original style without reverting back to old graphics! Everyone can get what they want! I don’t understand why those who like the graphics update are acting like the game has to be made ugly to satisfy us. The proof is right above showing that’s not at all the case. We can have our cake and eat it too and yet I keep seeing so much rudeness and hostility for those sad about their new appearances. We should all be coming together to ask for both a beautiful graphics update and the preservation of our characters looks! We pay monthly for this game, why shouldn’t we be allowed to hold higher standards?

Have experienced the same sadly. Both me and friends who didn't luck out on the update lottery with our characters got absolutely shat on by friends that did and they genuinely couldn't care less about it whilst frolicking happy with their characters haha. Its unfortunate but yeah a lot of them don't really show much sympathy about the issue and if anything Square so far has shown that they feel about the same which sucks. Some of us have had these characters for basically a decade. :') We've found ourselves wishing we didn't have a house on the game for years now so we could just let go more easily but we have so many memories there its just hard to let go..

Really sour about the whole situation. Putting on glasses and a mask can only alleviate so much when in the past we'd explicitly avoid any facial covers for cutscenes too... Sigh.

I don’t know if you’re still around but could I ask you how you managed to create such a high quality animated gif? I would like to do the same so I can show an edit to my character but I cant find any way to save it without it loosing a lot of quality.

Thanks. I’ll have to see if I can get a desktop set up so I can try it. I’m out of town on an ipad for a while and it says gifski isn’t compatible.

I used procreate for image edit and export gif. it's ipad app for drawing and you should pay for it. and i come this thread like everyday for see any other opinions or cases. sooooo... yeah. just let me know if you guys want to see me

Keepers of the Moon Miqo’te, Face 4, Eyes 6, Pupils Small, Eyebrows 5, Nose 4, Mouth 1, Lip Colour None.


Here’s an edit I put together that blends the new look of my face with the old features. This is more what I expected/hoped my character to look like updated. The shapes of the features didn’t need to change to make the old model look good. The new model can be adjusted to closer match the old and not lose out on quality at all. I think this looks even better than the current 7.0 version. I even made fixes to the eye problems that 7.0 has.

And if you look at these and think “I can’t tell the difference” then I hope that means you would be fine if these adjustments were made since it should all be the same to you in that case. I can see the difference. I went in by hand to change it so I know exactly how it’s different. I even made a whole big document detailing all the differences I could measure here:

I hope those who just want better looking updated graphics will be able to see from this that they don’t need to be hostile to those that are more perceptive and sensitive of facial details. The current faces in 7.0 weren’t an upgrade across the board. Some faces came out better than others. The models didn’t increase in complexity or detail very much. Most of the visual boost is from some improved texture resolution and lighting. The shapes and details of the original style can be more closely recreated without rolling anything back or making things look ugly. That’s what I hope for more than anything right now, so I can regain my attachment to the game and enjoy playing again. I miss my character and want to keep her adventure going.

hi guys, I came back. most of my KOR roegadyn player friends quite satisfied by 7.1 graphic, but I couldn't. because SE didn't change anything about femroe face 1.... (escept philtrum and eyebrow twitching bug...(but it seems slightly left when you change the face emote))

and I don't know why, but she look even worse than before.

Recently, KOR server's update cycle is moved forward than I espected. (December 3rd) It's really good news for most of korean player, but it's make me scared cuz I CAN NOT play DT with this face.... her new face always let me down when I see it.

before DT update in KOR sever, I downloaded EW benchmark for references and saved every her face emot, screenshots of various angles. I hope this is enough.

maybe this is last post until another graphic update. (I hope it's 7.2 or before)

here we go again. (ugh... *sigh)

Thanks to my besty, I found another differences of my WoL face.
























her cheek is bigger in DT, and every changing of her eye, nose, lips are breaking her face's balance. and chaned eyeshape is make she look dozing but pupil's highlight is brighther and bigger than before. That cause awkward feeling.

I could guess easely where she is looking in EW but in DT, I should be gusee 2 or 3 times to guessing where she is eye contecting. Maybe darker pupil's shadows and many highlights are cause that.

as I said before(at the quote), her eyes are round and smaller, nose is narrow, lips are thinner, eyebrows are faded and have different shape. even her mole are bigger than before! Only similer thing is her race tatoo in the middle of her forehead. (her tatoos on cheeks are also broken )

It took more than 5 hours to make these images and break the language barrior with translator.

Could I recive the reward? I wish.

Hi! Do you know where Korean players have been talking about the graphical update?
I see that there's a 자유 게시판 on ff14.co.kr but when I search for 벤치마크 or 그래픽 업데이트 or 그래픽 I can't find anything... (maybe I'm using the wrong words?)
I've seen a few posts on Twitter/X from Korean people who play on international servers, but I would like to see what the reaction will be when 7.0 comes out on December 3rd.
