oh wow! I thought it would become a little more flexible when I get to 100! but guess not. This is worse than I thought and really sad and horrible. I wonder how Long it will take SE to fix this abomination of a rework they have done. I just have no clue how this even happened! Did they even test this before release? It seems like the one who reworked Summoner got a hold of BLM!
The problem fundamentally comes down to the timers and EW's legacy of being caster-hostile, while DT continues in spades. Not quite 100 yet, but it feels awful having to use 100% of triplecasts for movement and still not having enough.oh wow! The rigidity of the rotation isn't the issue. The issue is encounter design basically giving all casters a giant, roegadyn-sized middle finger. BLM just happens to still be extremely frustrating in this environment because it's still designed like it's a turret caster, so anti-caster mechanics are felt keenly on it. Forcing players to play the way the devs imagine the class being played is essentially proving how broken BLM's design is in modern FFXIV.
Worse still, PICT doesn't feel that much better, but has substantially more movement given that it has a 1s grace period on GCDs +.5s slidecast opportunity, every 4th GCD is guaranteed instant, and it has a triplecast that is an unconditional DPS gain as well so you don't get screwed for not using it during fire 4 spam, for example.
Likewise, only needing 5 GCDs in their substantially larger ley lines is a hell of a lot better than the ability to move ley lines once on fights like DT has.
The end result is this class is getting a rework. They've fixed the broken jank, and realized that the class was broken for more reasons than just being janky.
But, you know, I want the timers gone. I want BLM to be a turret caster again, when it was at its best, before late-ShB broke it. And the encounter designers want every caster to play like summoner, because they forgot how to make fun encounters that allowed turret casters to exist.
That's what is killing BLM. A janky, overbloated turret caster forced into a meta where turret casting is despised. It was never going to survive.
Got to 100 yesterday and finished MSQ, can confirm it feels horrendous. I sincerely hope the developers reconsider the changes.
At the very least, give us Ice Paradox back, let us carry Flare Star stacks through Umbral Ice, let any GCD regen MP in Umbral Ice.
