I agree. I also find her voice really annoying :/.

There was never any chance she was going to be any good being a meat loving anime tomboy, plus a furry.
Her insecurity is very grating on me. I'll admit I've always found it exhausting to deal with insecure people IRL so I might be biased though.I disliked her seasick antics at first but this was more the story and writing trying to be funny and just ending feeling clumsy and slightly cringe than the character herself after I played a little more. I've gone through the first area (one of the first two) and I do actually appreciate her a lot. I do like what she represents, I do like that she has flaws but also strengths that nobody else has, and it offers good contrast. And that she is the best suited to be a leader because of her inner qualities and personality than all the other combined even though nobody can see it at first, and I do feel it promises a lot of good storytelling to come (but who knows, we'll see, i'm not that far yet).
But I mean, it's like Lyse right? People seemed to hate her, while I do think that she was a great character for so many reasons: she was the audience anchor asking all the questions the player would ask, naive, groomed to become a leader in spite of herself, fighting her past and constantly living in the shadows of her forebears (sister and father), and coming up right off the bat with very naive ideas and being quickly disillusioned because the world is just not black and white, and she had to slowly grow out of it. I feel a similar vibe from Wuk so far, and I do like it a lot. Those characters are a lot more 3 dimensional than all of the scions combined that never evolved much (except Alphinaud in ARR and Thancred in SHB maybe and that's where they were actually a lot more relatable).
Also I hate how we're all some babysitter who have to comfort her all the time and teach her very simple basics of life. It's so emotionally exhausting to have to deal with someone like this IRL, and I don't like doing it in a video game either.
This isn't like the typical character flaw. It's like we're dealing with a little kid and have to parent them. Gently of course because god forbid we are ever given the option to tell her to shape up or we'll bounce.

Her insecure behavior is very Japanese. It feels as though its polite to act humble and insecure rather than confident, and the Western Audience does not appreciate that attitude while it seems there is no problem with Wuk Lamat's behavior on the JP side. I checked to see if anyone had said anything on the JP side but there wasn't.
Even above Wuk Lamat's behavior the thing I hate the most about her in the story is the fact that she is the main character instead of me, the player.
its fine being a competnt ishmael to someones less competent ahab, all thingss considerd a lot of WOLS "arc" has a nice thing to it from arr to EW, fostering growth and being a mentor to others isnt terrible, tho i would like more to have passed in universe to facilitate thisHer insecure behavior is very Japanese. its weird how little she knows about her home and environment... but i guess she cant be the idiot if she learned that stuff on her own

It'd be nice, though I know it's unrealistic, if we could choose which person to support. Think I'd prefer the catboy over wuk.
i switched to jp and my enjoyment vastly improved

the story at the beginning feels they are trying to be lighthearted as possible with Wuk and it kind of failed imo. I am not fan of the 50s jazz music as well.
