I'm withholding judgement on the pants as an individual item until we can actually see the whole thing. If they have a nice shape and some pretty embroidery then it might be forgivable.
For being part of this overall outfit, though, they seem like an unnecessary substitution when the visible part is so plain that they could easily be swapped out by the player.
The Garlandtools website got updated with the items... apparently the pants look really nice for the male model (which is the default for the icon picture) if it's really transparent.

As a lady character, I dislike that tube top design, in fact I have so far only like one of the DNC tops. I would much rather have the male's option. Not really excited for the dancer AF at all. Hopefully the FFXI raid will have the DNC af gear and i can just wear that instead.

Ooh, those are indeed pretty! And with gold at the waist that was likely getting switched off by the long top.
Even if they're not transparent, the gradient looks nice, and I've wanted wide-legged pants like this for dancer. The current options are either cash shop, undyeable or job-locked. (Looking at you Nashmeira with your pretty alchemist pants!)

This is so frustrating. Every time I think they're taking a step in the right direction, they take six steps back immediately after.
For the love of god SE, stop giving us weird lazy looking edits while female models get something sexy and interesting.

I guess it’s a matter of taste. I prefer the male version. Finally a dancer top I think I will use on my male char.
TBF, the gear isnt 'locked' to gender, (i.e, male only/female only) its different per gender.
your issue isn't gear be gender locked, its gear being gender dimorphic
Ohh don't you start making sense on the forums (they hate that here) you might just get reported and banned for a while
You know what is frustrating? The male variation possibly getting more interesting for female characters than the shorty shorts they get which can be already replicated with the previous AF set's shorts.Ooh, those are indeed pretty! And with gold at the waist that was likely getting switched off by the long top.

It doesn't prohibit them, but it is 100% going against a message. It is very clear that SE was intending to message that players can wear either gear regardless of "gender" they are in the gameThat\\'s not the same as stating outright that they will no longer lock gear behind gender. Because they have made efforts to unlock/not lock gear behind gender does not prohibit them from doing it whenever they decide to make gear have an exclusive appearance in the future.
There is no bad message being sent. Only a false expectation being created based on non-existent principles that the dev team does not have to abide to.
What's awfully stupid is showing more skin is NOT feminine and they are supporting the message that men have ugly bodies that need to be covered
New leisure wear, why is the crop top on men lower???? This is ridiculous! Make it the same and stop discriminating
Why are all the cute shorts on fem characters PANTS on men??? Can men not wear shorts irl? They clearly do, because I do
Fem characters should be allowed to wear men's fashion as well. Do I understand it's more work for them? Yes. With the LITTLE they've been providing after the last 6y, they owe us better. This glamour? We are paying for it. We pay a sub, SO YES, THEY ARE OBLIGATED TO GIVE US OPTIONS. this GAME IS NOT FREE, therefore, give us what we want
Also: stop forcing gender pronouns. We should've been able to choose this YEARS ago. Other SE games even have a nonbinary option
Stop making excuses for devs and a company who gets paid
You people have been ruining gear design since EW, I hope you're happy now that everything, even sets from events are now exclusively designed for male characters.
