I'm withholding judgement on the pants as an individual item until we can actually see the whole thing. If they have a nice shape and some pretty embroidery then it might be forgivable.
For being part of this overall outfit, though, they seem like an unnecessary substitution when the visible part is so plain that they could easily be swapped out by the player.
The Garlandtools website got updated with the items... apparently the pants look really nice for the male model (which is the default for the icon picture) if it's really transparent.

Ooh, those are indeed pretty! And with gold at the waist that was likely getting switched off by the long top.
Even if they're not transparent, the gradient looks nice, and I've wanted wide-legged pants like this for dancer. The current options are either cash shop, undyeable or job-locked. (Looking at you Nashmeira with your pretty alchemist pants!)
You know what is frustrating? The male variation possibly getting more interesting for female characters than the shorty shorts they get which can be already replicated with the previous AF set's shorts.Ooh, those are indeed pretty! And with gold at the waist that was likely getting switched off by the long top.
