The current MMO gamer wants to be able to solo everything and get handed free epicz.
They could care less about the social aspects.
Damn youngins, get off my lawn.

I don't think he said that actually.
He said that is what would have to happen if all classes were to be part of the main scenario (branching story lines for example)
He didn't say that's what they plan to do though, he just said currently they don't plan to have DoH and DoL as part of teh main scenario.
Didn't finish WoTG because of request like this which is a let down. I got 1/3 of the way through it before LS died down, friend list got smaller, and then I eventually stop playing.
Got lucky with RotZ, CoP, and ToAU because of LS support and a few randoms.
Currently playing Aion "solo" while I fish in XIV. Got to keep busy..
In an ideal world, I don't even mind if part of the main scenario is for parties just not the whole thing and it should be skippable OR let people adjust the difficulty or the setting if they want to party or not, just for the main story line and have your high end content too for parties only. I don't begrudge hardcore partiers their content I just wish they would leave some for us too. Not asking for everything. I'm not sure why this is what we accused of...
Anyway, 2.0 it will all be more clear.![]()

100% agree with the OP. I admit I was mystified when I found out you could just solo the whole thing. I was especially mystified when whoever thought parley was fun thought it was so fun that folks would rather do that than defeat a monster.
Parley sucks buf if it was done like a card game as seen in Vanguard, then i would be cool and make it a totally separate mini game where you can raise fame, city morale or something. Hopefully we got some sort of city system where something like that would be beneficial. Perhaps in the war against the empire.![]()
Parley has its own unique charm and is reasonably enjoyable once figured out how it works. It was supposed to be the peaceful resolution to the conflict. Very much a letdown for the type of story line problems you were trying to solve...
But then again, I never would have even considered doing it on a DoH/DoL. Honestly in my mind you don't win main storyline content by sewing stuff...
IMO a good meduim would be having the storyline itself solo, but once you get to a certian point in the story you unlock an optional, party based BC for rewards or other things. Sorta like ENMs from XI in a sense.
It already is like this. All Job content needs multiple players to complete...yes, even the Level 30 Job quests cannot be soloed unless you are Over-Lvl plus all the AF Quests require an 8-man PT to even participate.
As this game progresses I am rather certain there will be more Party Content added than Solo Content but I, for one, hope SE will remake the Main Story Quests more exciting and interesting (even harder) but they are still Soloable (or at least need to be over-lvl to win).
As it stands now XIV is kinda solo till 30 (15 for subjob), then start to party...and I am fine with that...it just needs to be more interesting and exciting getting 1-50 and that is where solo content belongs. If you're not interested in questing to level, then go get a Plvl and rush to your Ifrit Drop Headaches.
BTW, if a future Expansion Pack has a story arc that requires Party-play to complete, I am fine with that as well. I just think the Original Main Story Arc should remain Solo (but harder) content.
Papa was a rolling stone...wherever he laid his barbut was home.
Would like to see Party play and challenge come to the very disjointed and poor main scenario. They can do significantly better than this, and i'm holding on for great story in 2.0
I don't care if 2.0 has the best battle system, areas, design, end-game, or even graphics. If the story is not up to par for 2.0 it will be a failure in my eyes. Final Fantasy has story as a primary component, and XIVs really sucks.
