Healers rarely got targeted by any mechanics but they had to ensure the survival of the team as they handled the mechanics.
DPS had to deal damage the best they can while handling mechanics that may or may not force them to disengage from the boss.

Newer fights just have every role do the same dance and anyone who fails a dance step will wipe the raid. Hardly a fun time.
Briny Mirror might still be the cleverest healer mechanic in the game, tbh. Such a simple little thing but when it gets combined with crit-autos, or deaths, or any of a dozen of other factors it can cause your pull-by-pull decision-making to vary wildly.

Mechanics that ask you to make role-related decisions are good.
