Pictomancer is absurd

Something I hadn't seen is what would be appropriate for Krille, since it seems strongly that they wanted a job for her and not everything works. Krille as Reaper, e.g., would just be jarring. And we're talking about a cute little Lala with a cat ear hoody, so she's already a bit to the cutesy side of things. While something in the middle could work, giving her something cutesy just doubles down on that aspect of her and in SE's position probably doubles down on her marketability. It does also serve a slightly underserved bit of the community which over the last two expansions have gotten:

* edge lord Reaper
* laser healer with body-horror storyline Sage
* serious business and political storyline Gunblade
* sexy Dancer

The cute end of the spectrum hasn't really been addressed as a job. Admittedly, the cute aesthetic isn't for me, but I don't begrudge the people who it is for. They deserve a job for them as much as anyone.

All valid points. While she, herself, is serious much of her presentation isn't that much and it seems likely that they'll portray the job in-game seriously. It's not even so much that Pictomancer is unserious as much as it's just fun. Admittedly, if they were going to introduce a frivolous-feeling job, waiting until after the universe-ending calamity before anything super serious happens it the right time to do it.

I promise I’m not saying this to make this about healers like I always do but I’m just using them as an example (though DNC also works)

The game seems to collectively struggle with reconciling the canon WOL personality (ie the kind and rather quiet adventurer who wants to help but is getting tired of being used as a human weapon and wants to live their own life) and their actions with the job you choose for them

DNC and healers suffer the most from this and it also seems to be why they never like making meteor a ranged job or a caster

PIC seems like it’s also really going to suffer from this. There is nothing wrong with a cutesy job, I even find it’s design rather endearing, it’s just similar to the existing 5 jobs I’ve mentioned it’s just hard to reconcile this with the WOL as a canon character (even if you have an OC like I do it’s hard to deny certain parts of their character)

Its fine to think that.
Tbh, it's not so much cute, but more so a hint to creativity, even if she doesn't show much.

Asides of being a reference, she's now given an outlet for anything she can think of.

Which for good or ill depending on how you view her Long Hour Shift Self.

We have seen that Krile has a playful streak, even if it's a bit mean-spirited in the instance we see it. Combined with being a grown-ass woman in a cat ear hoodie I can definitely see it fitting her from what little we've seen of it.

I personally don't find it super appealing without any gameplay info and unless the gameplay slams hooks into my brain it'll probably be maxed and then dropped, but I'm glad the people who want to have cutesy animations are getting a bone thrown their way.
